Each year, the California High School Talon chooses one special person to whom the yearbook will be dedicated. In some cases, the individual is extremely well-known with the school populace; in others, the person is hardly known at all, and seems to do his work behind the scenes . It is this kind of person that the 1 980 Talon is dedicated to. In every school day, there are a countless number of jobs which go unnoticed. Every day depends on the work of one primary person. This person works in the Activities office, and does everything from supervise school maintenance to reminding students of their locker combinations after Spring Vacation. This individual has perhaps the most difficult job in the school: keeping it running. Her name is Willie Jo Turner. Outside of school, Mrs. Turner donates much of her time to the Christian Character Builders (a division of the Method- ist Church) and her Bridge Club. She also spends a lot of her time with her children and grandchildren. The 1 980 Talon Staff salutes you, Mrs. Turner, and wishes you the happiest of years in the future. ' ' Mrs. Turner is, above all, motivated by the desire to make Calhi a better, more productive experience for California students. Her expec- tations and standards for students have remained high throughout the years she has served them, but not as high as her hopes for the future. Those who have had the privilege of working with Willie Jo know that this Annual dedication could not be better directed or more highly deserved. Congratulations, staff members, on your outstanding selection. Mr. Robert D. Cooke, Asst. After 19 years in the Activities Office, she has become an integral part of Activities, and her knowledge and expertise will be missed when she finally decides that it ' s time to say ' Goodbye ' . l rs.
