For me this year has been one of success, failure, and often times confusion. But all situations or circumstances, good and bad, were prosperous, as greater knowledge and understanding was the result. I wish to thank ASB cabinet for their work, patience and smiles. Next year will be challenging in a countless number of ways. Calhi will have to find a way to unite 3 student bodies as one. It will take time, patience and a lot of giving, but I believe that the peopleof Calhi will be successful. I wish everyone success in being happy and content with life, and to be diligent in striving for goals. When I left Sweden last summer, I couldn ' t believe that I was going to California. I had heard so many wonderful things about it, and I found out that Cali- fornia is exactly as fantastic as everybody told me. I have met a lot of great people and I have so many friends here now, so I ' m sure that it ' s going to be hard to leave every- thing behind now when I go back to my country. I ' m going to miss my American family especially. They are fantastic and they gave me a beautiful time here in the U.S. With- out them this year wouldn ' t have been anything. lag alskar er alia och jag kommer a! drig attglomma er. Susanna Gising Sweden How do you like it here? That ' s the first question everyone asked me. My answer was always something like: Oh it ' s ok . . . The reason for not exclaiming immediately that I LOVE to be here is that of course there have been moments that have not been so enjoyable. Generally speaking my year has been a rich and pleasant experi- ence, and at least almost everybody has been kind and understanding. Some of you have become such good friends of mine that I will remember you long after I ' ve gone back to Fin- land. Thanks to you all for a wonderful year here in California. And . . . It ' s really great. Every day I discover new things, little things that give me an idea of this beauti- ful country. The first days at school were so difficult for me. Everybody asked questions about me and my country and I couldn ' t understand anything, but the days are always getting better. All the people are very nice with me, and they help me if I have any problems. At last, I want to thank my family, the Davises, and all the things that they do for me, also my friends at school (especially those that helped me to open the locker the first days). You should take pride on the many accom- plishments that have been made here in Condor Country this year. I find It encouraging to see that you are not only gaming the knowledge you will need for a successful life, but you are also learning to apply that knowledge to make the world around you a better place. I would remind each of you that knowledge without common sense is folly; without method it is waste; without kindess it is fanaticism; and without con- cern for other people it is meaningless. But with common sense, it is wisdom; with method it is power; with character it is beneficence; and with concern for others it is fulfillment.
