Calexicds pride and joy came in first yesterday in the Kentucky Auto Derby. It was a tense mo- ment, the cars sped down the last lap, and slowly Mandrapa crept up. She passed the third, second and then the first car and raced through to claim the World's Championship Title. In her speech to the newsmen, Miss Mandrapa said that she owed her success to the famous Heber Avenue Speed- way, where she practiced as a child. KIDNAPPING CASE CLOSED . . . Not guilty! With an evident sigh of relief, the jury brought in the verdict of the Geering Kid- napping Case. Mary Geering, the defendant, was accused of kidnap- ping the well-known Roberts' baby. She was first booked on a cradle snatching charge, but was later released for lack of incriminating evidence. Said Mary, when she heard the verdict, I've been framed. CRAZY VVOMEN . . . Hallie McGaughy, noted psycho- logrst, has been declared insane tonight by a noted physician aft- er trying to clear the mental ill- ness of Mary Kubler. Gloria Hosea, beautiful and fearless performer, is adding many Calexico people to her list of fans by her magnificent exhibition of lion-taming. It is claimed that this is Draft's best show in ten years. BROADWAY PLAY SUCCESS The recent play presented on Broadway, titled The Cop Had Flat Feet or The Case of the Bark- ing Dogs, was a. tremendous success. The well- known actor, Ernest Alcala, played the part of the ccp who falls madly in love with a notorious gun- moll, daughter of an underworld monarchg Roland Smith, who is a famous seller in Coal and Water Nylons, which miraculously f'?l turn out to be Rayons. In the ensuing fight between the gangster and the hero-cop, the latter is killed and the former sent to prison.
