Calexicds pride and joy came in first yesterday in the Kentucky Auto Derby. It was a tense mo- ment, the cars sped down the last lap, and slowly Mandrapa crept up. She passed the third, second and then the first car and raced through to claim the World's Championship Title. In her speech to the newsmen, Miss Mandrapa said that she owed her success to the famous Heber Avenue Speed- way, where she practiced as a child. KIDNAPPING CASE CLOSED . . . Not guilty! With an evident sigh of relief, the jury brought in the verdict of the Geering Kid- napping Case. Mary Geering, the defendant, was accused of kidnap- ping the well-known Roberts' baby. She was first booked on a cradle snatching charge, but was later released for lack of incriminating evidence. Said Mary, when she heard the verdict, I've been framed. CRAZY VVOMEN . . . Hallie McGaughy, noted psycho- logrst, has been declared insane tonight by a noted physician aft- er trying to clear the mental ill- ness of Mary Kubler. Mary is the famous concert pianist who sud- denly seized a desire to fly to Mars. Last night Hallie and Mary were found trying to get Mary's piano and I-lallie's dog, Elmer, aboard the rocket ship. Christie Flambures, popular Torch Singer at the Stork Club, yesterday received an anonymous note threatening her life, The let- ter is believed to have been sent by her ardent pursuer, Albert Ru- bidoux, who recently replaced Johnny Weismuller in his well- known role as Tarzan. Delia Ca- bral, world famous detective who is known to always get her man, has been called in to find the whereabouts of this would-be mur- derer. Florence Olsen, that famous Powers Girls model, has signed a 50 year contract with Monogram Pictures. Her first picture will be, Women of the Streets. She was discovered by that Always on the Job talent scout, Virginia Pereyra. Miss Pereyra started the popular actress Juanita Goff fJoan lDavis, Jr.J on the road to star- I dom.
