Our days in Calexico Union High have been happy ones and also busy ones. They have done much to develop our characters and personalities as well as our intellectual and physical sides. Gone are the days of preparation and before us lies the real testfthe test of life. What we will do and what we will be is determined much by our education in high school, and our living and learning in Calexico High School has done much to help us live successfully. Forever, there will be a place in our memories for our high school days. To keep a more vivid recollection of this period in our lives we publish this book. 5 :fr Ad , YQ Content KYU CIOYXI'9.YXI'5I ADMINISTRATION CLASSES ACTIVITIES ATHLETICS V .. S .tl fowl em 5. 5 WV The l3rincipal's Message The turmoil and unrest which characterizes this period. of global strife have in some degree permeated the daily life and work of all of us. Yet, in spite of this, the great majority of the students of C. U. H. S. have not faltered in following the course which they have chartered for themselves. All of you, I am sure, have either consciously or unconsciously become imbued with a thorough realization that enlightment comes only to the inquiring mind and that there can be no such thing as education which is not mindful of the un- restrainable forces surrounding us. To these forces the edu- cated man adjusts himself lest he be controlled. or destroyed by them- To the graduates of the class of 1945 I entreat you to .iii develop a disdain for your weaknesses and to cultivate an un- ' '59 daunted confidence in your own strength, with an expectation of reward for labor commensurate with the efforts exerted. I I charge you to give generously of all your talents and gr, I 1 heritage, knowing that Uthe more you give away, the more you fi -5 will have . -Lewis S. Linn i+.1iaS Betty Biggs Geering With the season well under way and the Bulldogs unscored upon, the Brawley Wild- cats upset Calexico's highly rated eleven. On Thanksgiving Day, however, the' Bulldogs came out victorious against the El Centro Spartans with a score of 18-7. Calexico wound up in a three way tie with Brawley and El Centro, but were consoled by being asked to represent the valley in fl Southern Section Championship game against Bonita High School. With bad breaks and a great disadvantage of weight, the Bulldogs lost 12-6. Getting off to a bad start the Bullpups were goose-egg'd by their first three opponents. Settling down in their last two tussles, they fought like chips off the old block , and showed fans what the prospects were for future years by tackling the stubborn Holtville eleven. The following week they took on the strong Calipatria boys in one of the hardest fought ball game's of the season, but when the smoke had cleared the Bullpups were on the long end of a 12-O score. Cn the whole, the 1944 football season was very successful. The crowded grand stand gave evidence of the fact that there are many sports fans in Calexico who are really rooting for the Calexico eleven.
