M. C. S. began their merry way with lan, Wayne, Skip, Alice, Henry, Danny, Chuckie, Dave, Jackie, Tom, Larraine, Bonnie, Laurelie and Dottie, Our first year came and went with no new faces. The class of 1959 began adding members to the rapidly growing class with the coming of Rog Bartalo and Jim in second grade, John K. and Judy K. in third. Judy left in the fourth, Gary and Lucille came in the fifth, and Scottie, John L., and Sandy in the sixth Finally, the eager delinquents reached junior high There, many faces joined us, Bob P., Sharon, Arnie, Roger G., Ron, Nancy W., and Jack S. in seventh grade, and from over the Mumford bridge marched Margaret M., Alan S., Mary Ann, Steve, Bob G.,-Goodie, Ruth Ann, Mary H., and Dick C. From the huge township of Clifton came Al. Our eighth year brought seven more new faces, Roy, Dick S., Jean E., George, Marie, Brenda, and Gloria, who join- ed our ranks to help us gain our goal - Washington, D. C1 Freshmen at last! Oh, did we think we were the greatest, but as always, we were termed as those noisy grunchiesf' Our first project for the year was the Sadie Hawkins Dance, which was quite a success. Rose, Nancy J. Paul R. and Eldred joined us in that year. Our sophomore year came and went with no new faces, Lucille Ochs, Alice Buck, Brenda Whitford, Mrs. Shaffer, Mr. Beach. Front Row: Robert Scott, Roy O'Dell, John Loomis, Tom FitzGibbons, Henry Cox, Robert Goodwin, Sandra Les- sord, Bonnie Robertson, Rose Nobles, Larraine Carson, Dorthy Friend, Mary Ann Latko, Gloria Estabrook, Marie Fitz Simmons. Kneeling: Judy Kelly, Nancy James, Jean Evans, Mary Hoag, lan MacDougal . Absent: Robert Poles. ass History- but by no means was it an uneventful year. Our dance, Soph Hop, was a real success. Along with our junior year came our rings which we proudly displayed to the somewhat green-eyed underclassmen, Soon after the arrival of our rings, was the sale of Christmas cards and then stationery which enlarged our bankroll for Washington. Another event of the year was our Nick Nickson Record Hop, which was well attended. The long- awoited Junior Prom came with Stairway to the Stars as its theme, Larraine and Roy were crowned princess and prince, with Rose, Laurelie, Rag B. and Dave as their at- tendants. The evening was made complete with the little dance by the adorable crown bearers, Debby DeVore and Emmett Clancy. Late in the year Judy returned to our class. As the fall of 1958 opened, our over-anxious class realized that now we were Seniors. Gary was elected Presi- dent, Dave, Vice-President, Mary Ann, Secretary, and Chuckie, Treasurer. Our first project was our magazine campaign which went great guns. Our goal was reached and exceeded. Next was our Senior Play, Class Ring, which we had a lot of fun putting on. Our last money-making project was the Senior Ball with the theme, Moments to Remember. King -.-sew ,,,s.s,f.-f Queen ------------------- Alternates ,ss.e--. , -s------ , -------- 1 -------- At last our goal, Washington, was reached. Take a lap, run, run, rung sidestraddle hop, hit it hard, were some of the familiar yells to which the boys responded to get into shape. Mr. Cameron, their new coach ordered the boys, You gotta drive. Take out and go. After practicing through hot days, cold days, and rainy days, the boys finally were in shape for the first game. September 20 Caledonia 6 - Brockport 14 For the first time the Caledonia Maroons used the T formation, and although they lost, they played a splendid game. Robert Poles scored on a run around end. Roger Bartalo and Milo Moran played a good offensive game, while Dave Worden and Tom FitzGibbon played a splendid defensive game. September 26 Caledonia 'I4 - Avon 0 With the first game jitters gone, the Caledonia Maroon Raiders opened league play with a i4 to O victory over their arch rival, Avon. Sporting a big and hard charging defensive line, the Maroons effectively contained Avon's offensive ef- forts. Behind the running of Dave Stone, Milo Moran, and Roger Bartalo, the offensive unit pushed across two touch- downs, one in the first quarter and another in the third. John Loomis successfully booted the extra points. Robert Poles and Dave Worden played a good defensive game. October 3 Caledonia 27 - York 6 With the left end, Dave Worden, setting a three touch- dawn pace, Caledonia took its second straight victory. ln the first quarter Dave Worden received a pass from Don Bartalo and went for a T. D. Two good runs by Robert Poles set up Skip Higgins who slanted off left tackle for a T. D. York salvaged its lone touchdown in the end of the second quarter. Receiving a pass in the end zone from Robert Poles, Dave Worden scored his second touchdown early in the third period. Late in the fourth quarter, the ends plowed down the field for a pass, and Dave Worden received the ball in the end zone for his third T. D. John Loomis again booted the three extra points. Skip Higgins and Bob Grattan played a good defensive game. October 'IO Caledonia 21 - Mt. Morris 0 For the first half af the game, the Caledonia Maroons played listless, sloppy ball, obviously from a letdown after their 27-6 win over York the week before. Five times Caledonia lost the ball on fumbles in Mt, Morris territory. Though the Caledonia Maroons tried, they couldn't seem to Early in the third succeed during the first half of the game. quarter, however, Caledonia gained possession of the ball, and Dave Stone, the fullback, went through a gaping hole for our first touchdown. ln the fourth quarter, Robert Poles and Dave Stone, who carried the ball to the 9 yard line, set up Dave Stone who barreled through the line for a T. D. Late in the fourth quarter, Milo Moran scored a T. D. on a quarter- back sneak. Dave Worden received a pass from John Loomis for the extra point, and John also placed the two extra points in the game. Don Sheffer and Ed Holliday played a good de- fensive game. October 'I7 Caledonia 33 - Dansville 7 Though hampered by fumbles in the opening half, the Caledonia Maroons recovered their poise behind their end, and Skip Higgins turned what started out as a close game into a rout. Late in the first quarter, Skip received a pass from Robert Poles and went for a touchdown. John Loomis booted the extra point. Early in the second quarter, Robert Poles ran 72 yards to set up Skip Higgins for his second T.D. Milo Moran intercepted a pass and ran 53 yards for a T. D. Skip received a pass from John Loomis for the extra point. ln the third quarter, when Caledonia kicked to Dansville, there was a fumble, but Tom FitzGibbons recovered for Caledonia and plowed for a touchdown. John Loomis again kicked the extra point. Early in the fourth quarter, Robert Poles intercepted a pass and barreled for a T, D. The lone score for Dansville was made in the second quarter. Steve Coe, John Loomis, and John Krenzer played a good defensive game. October 24 Caledonia 12 - Livonia 39 Caledonia's great hopes of winning the Livingston County Championship were ruined by the highly regarded Livonia team. This loss dropped a three way tie with Mt. Morris and Livonia for the championship. Skip Higgins received a pass from Milo Moran for our first touchdown. ln the third quarter, Skip again received a pass from Milo, setting up Dave Stone who ran 47 yards for a T.D. Louie Kelly and Jimmy Wade played a good defensive game. October 31 Caledonia 6 - Albion 26 ln the last game of the year, the boys fought hard, but they just couldn't hold Albion back, However, it was very evident that the spirit of the Caledonia Maroons was up, as the cheerleaders kept yelling, Keep trying bays. Our only touchdown came in the second quarter when Ronnie Bubel recovered for Caledonia on Albion's 20 yard line, and Dave Worden scored on a pass from Robert Poles. Bob Grant and Don Bartalo played a fine defensive game. Thus came to a close a fairly successful season of 4 wins and 3 losses, followed by the football banquet with speeches and movies, old and new, of the team. VAIL Avon New York I7 State Street Caledonia New York Thanks To All When we of the Senior Class of Caledonia-Mumford Central School were Freshmen and secured our copies of the AINODELAC, we thought it was just a book that grew like Topsy, of the Uncle Tom's Cabin story. Now as Seniors, responsible for adding another volume of our school annual to the lengthening row on the shelves and in the halls of memory, we have learned that it takes hours of labor and a great deal of co-operation on the part of students, teachers, and friends in the industrial and merchandising field of the community to bring you the 1959 AINODELAC. To each and every one of you who has helped make this year- book possible, the staff wishes to extend their thanks, for we realize fully that only with your assistance have we been able to present this edition.
