,, . .' ..g 1.1 . ,2 isfary The frrst school In Caledon1a was a three room frame bu1ld1ng constructed m 1872 In 1910 Caledonxa had 1ts frrst graduatxng class under the prmcrpalshtp of Mr O M Lawrence Two survtvrng members of th1s class are Mrs Ola Jernxgan Plckett and Mrs Lula Stanley Honnoll Mr Lawrence was mflu enttal rn brlngrng about consolrdatron of the many small schools throughout dtstrtct one Dowdle School led the way by Jornmg Caledoma School In 1920 In 1923 the school became an accredxted hxgh school by the graduanng class takmg the state exammattons Two of our teachers Mrs Nrckles and Mrs Sansrng were rn the group Another progressrve step was the constructxon of the Agrtculture teacher s home tn 1924 Th1S was ftrst occupred by Mr O O Bennett In 1927 a new structure of brxck was erected lt snll stands as the ma1n burldtng contatmng classrooms audlo vrsual room and Supermtendent s offtce At thrs txme Home Economrcs and Commercral subjects were added to the curnculum Here the followtng have served as Supenntendents Mr W O Vaught Mr R A Hrck The growth of the school made the erectron of the classroom burldrng known as the lrttle burldrng necessary In 1932 The lunchroom was added In 1935 under the supervrston of Mrs Hunter Ierrgan It was located rn what ts now the audlo vtsual room Contmued growth of the school and hard work of all mterested brought the Agrrculture and I-lomemakrng Departments and the gym rn 1936 Wrth the growth of Caledonta even these butldmgs were unable to accommodate the lncreasrng number of pupxls So durlng the next few years several burldlngs were added mcludlng our lunchroom and communrty cannrng plant In 1950 the school board composed of Rev J F Sanstng O J Lawrence Leo Wnght Hershel Han kms Wrllre Henderson and Supermtendent Gumn wrth the co operatron of the enure dtstrrct buxlt the beautxful new audrtonum wxth addmonal classrooms Thts burldtng was dedtcated to the youth of Caledonra The Supertntendent s home was also added to the campus at thrs t1me These buxldtngs wrll undoubtedly meet the needs of our town for many years to come They are apprecxated by the pupxls of the ennre communrty whose good fortune tt rs to enjoy therr beauty and comforts man, Mr. W, M, Crocker, Mr, O, E, Earnest.
