GIRLS' BASKETBALL 0 do at 5 Back row- Davis, Huver, Bculard, Rogers, Snyder. Center row- Stsuffer, Peet, Rector, Datoma, Hodges , Bowman, Schultz , Kayser, Woodman. Front row- Finkbeiner, Douglass, Anderson, Sears, Schroder, Near, Good. This year our girls squad started the season with a large amou t of raw material, since only one letter girl, Anderson, was back with the team. We dropped the first game, a thriller, to Woodland by a 15-16 score. We were unable to avenge that de- feat, for our return game was cancelled on account of stormy weather. In the course of an exciting season, we lost games to Hiddleville, Lake Odessa, Hudsonville, and Byron Center, and won fr m Way- land, Byron Center and Hudsonville. We also play- ed a tie game with Wayland. Although we lost sev- eral games, we feel that we had an enjoyable and profitable season. Girls' athletics in the school are managed by the Girls' Athletic Council, which this year con- sists of Monica Anderson, President, Betty Sears, Leola Rector, Margaret Finkbeiner and Elva Peet. TOURNAMENT Our team ended s very successful season.with a clean, hardfought defeat at the hands of their oldest rivals. We met Middleville in the district tourna- ment. It was s hard fought battle with Middleville triumphing by the score of 55 to 214. ' Our second team was one of the sorappiest teams Osledonia has ever had. Although our records do not show a great number of victories we know that every game that was lost was s clean, hsrdfought battle. We hope that all our future teams may be of the same type as this one. 25
