The non-dictatorial, non-communistic, non-socialistic governing body of Caldwell High School, namely the Student Council, has for its leaders this year R. C. Pasley, president, Roger Dille, vice-president, and Glenn Burton, secretary-treasurer. This group, representative of our student body, strove this year for a variety of things to do. Under their leadership a series of assemblies sponsored by each class were given one month. Each class tried to out-do the other in originality, and since the senior class presented the last as- sembly-of course all seniors Were sure it was best! The Student Council also has charge of choosing those to receive letters and C pins, for outstanding Work in some activity. However, what the Student Council really likes best, is their luncheon meeting once every month! 10 C L A S S E S 1 un u thx xx mp: L Hun ln mx on 1 on rl nun lr hm llwlll' urmxum C1 u n x ng. 11 rl n. mln mu Nu u U u 1, mu M mmmmmmmm hm Ntudluux tx yu 1 nl XKHIII 1 I' I UU lun A OI , lv gl If I hz 1 ' s of an znm1'1. Har- Nicholes hurls third strike to Faylor of Nampa BASEBALL Baseball got off to a bad start this year with Nampa downing the Cougars in the first two games of the season. The club soon recovered from the early-season jinx and had a successful season. It has been rumored about that some of our boys canlt see the ball to hit it. One person, it was reported, after swinging seven times and letting two strikes pass over the plate decided to be bat boy. May we present Paul Wolfe. Coach Eggers has two lettermen returning this year. Nicholes and Tamura are taking the mound position with Huston at the receiving end. Pasley is playing third this year. In our opinion, we feel that Coach Eggers should be congratulated for bringing baseball to light in our school, and that any person who feels that it isn't wanted or isn't worth while is definitely not a loyal C.H.S. student. 57 Tennis Flay Darling. Frank Hamhlin, Bob Jensen. Gulf' -R. C. Paisley, Aaron Meyer. Diek Hurst, Dick Meacham. TENNIS and GOLF Spring is here, and with it comes the swinging of racquets and the golf boys with their bags-golf bags. This year Coach Ed Simmerman, better known to his intimate associates as Joe Collegef' predicts another successful year in tennis. Iiour lettcrmen are returning this year and with a crop of about fifteen men, competition will be keen for the number one pcsition. The loss of Bud Deck, last year's winner of the school cup, by a transfer to Nampa, will handicap the team a great deal, but Coach Simmerman has hopes of finding that long sought natural player. Matches are scheduled with Emmett, Boise, Nampa, Meridian, Parma, Wilder, Weiser, and Ontario. On the golf ccurse we hnd Dick Olesen, local manager of the golf course, and the High School coach, busily ironing out the defects of the team. This is only the second year for golf in the school and it's rapidly climbing up among the more popular sports. Last year the team finished third in the District Meet. Dick Meacham, the member who practices with a croquet mallet, and R. C. Pasley, who says, Oh well, l'll beat him on the next hole,', are the only two returning lcttcrmen from last year. But there are several new faces in this year's turnout of about fifteen players. Paul XVolfe, Wgirren Tamura, Bruce Nicholesg those who would grab anything out in front of them, so someone stuck a golf club in their hands. xfx First Rau'-Margaret Weitz, Margaret Anderson. What's it that attracts the eye as we watch the nimble figures flit about the court? Is it the tanned and slender legs? l should say not! lt's the grace and ease, the stroke and follow through, that won them high recognition in the State Tournament last year. Dorothy Branden and her sister Margaret captured the Idaho State Doubles Championship, while Betty Tweedy was defeated in the semihnals in the singles match after battling her way to the top. Practically the same team will return with the exception of Margaret Brandon. The matches will be scheduled the same as the boys with a few minor changes. G. A. A. The Girls' Athletic Association, a national organization which was in- troduced in the school this year, is designed to promote interest in girls' athletics and physical education, National G. A. A. letters will be awarded to girls winning a certain percentage of points from partici- , pating in various athletics. CATHEHMF ANDERSON Ftniu-:Neg KESSLER I rr stderr!
