On Monday May 22 at 3:30 a.m. , the Senior class of 1978 left Caldwell for the beginning of a long ride to their destination - - - Six Flags Over Texas. Most of the activities tht occured on the bus consisted of sleeping, shifting to a more comfortable position, and making trips to the bathroom. For some strange reason the bathroom seemed to be the place to be ! At one point there were four people in the bathroom at once . Guess you could say it was an emergency! We stopped at Bisquit Hill, the traditional breakfast stop, but it was closed. Moving on we found another restau- rant, but we soon learned that if we had stopped at Bisquit Hill, we would have gotten our food sooner! Even though some people had difficulty looking at the food because of what affected them from the night be- fore, we all made it back to the bus and once again on our way to Six Flags. At Six Flags everyone split up and went their own ways. at 6:00 p.m. most of the Seniors met at the gate --- of course , there were a few that couldn't tear themselves away on time. So to amuse ourselves while waiting on those few, we exchanged stories of the day's happenings. A couple of guys weren't amused enough by the talk, so decided to borrow a good-looking cowboy hat. After being chased by the victim, the criminal threw down the hat and decided that was enough amusement. After leaving two hours later than scheduled with sour- venirs, an extra cap fone ended up borrowed any- wayl , and the-smell of a locker room, we stared hunting for a place to eat. After supper, and an extra magazine Qwe won't mention the namel , we started our jomney back home . The trip back was like the one up, it consisted of sleep- ing, shifting to a more comfortable position, and making trips to the bathroom - - - only a lot more quieter! ! , . . was-vw an ! qi 5 'l' 'V K , S a .. . Q Z 1978 J unior-Senior Prom The evening of April 29, marked the date of the jr. - Sr. Banquet and Prom. A night that will remain on the minds of the juniors, as a stepping stone to graduation, and the Seniors, as a finality of their years at CHS. At 7:00, King Dennis Schmidt and Queen Jacki Hudson led the march to the gymnasitum where they met the faculty and the members of the school board for the Ban uet q . The tables were set with yellow place cards, green programs rolled into scrolls and tied with gold ties and yellow napkins, at each place. All were incribed with the date, the theme Day- break! and a symbolic sketch of a stmrise. Jr. Class President Dennis Schmidt opened with the welcome, followed by Rev. Ron johnson, of the Central Christian Church, with the invocadon. Sr. Class President Chuck Tyler gave the response . After the meal of salisbury steaks served by the Sophomore Class, Rusty Ginn sang the theme song ' 'Daybreak! accom- panied by Ann ,Lowe on the electric piano. The guest speaker, Rev. johnson, then spoke. Terry Allen sang Pieces of April , accompanied by Ann and Mr. Wisner, and Rev. john- son closed the affair with the benediction. 4 If . E11 545-,V f S. 1. 'ug -. , l Daybreak!! The juniors had been busy all week decorating at the Com- munity Building . At the en- trance was a tunnel, stuffed with tissue paper to give the W vw H' Q , N- effect of flowers. On one of the walls was a huge mural of a stmrise, with the word Day- break! lit up at the bottom. ln one area were card tables and chairs, topped off with softly glowing candles. A gar- den setting was in one corner, complete with garden fLu'ni- ture, grass, a bird bath and flowers. This is where the pic- tures of the couples were taken. The ceiling was covered with multi-colored streamers and a huge mirror ball hung in the center. With the lights turned dovsm, the mirror ball whirling around, the black light behind the punch bowl and cookies and candles burning, the lighting was perfect. A lit up pond, complete with fish, was beside the stage . The band, CRUSTE, from Alva, played exceptionally well , from hard rock to soul music . The dance lasted from 9:00 to 12:00. Afterwards, everyone changed to jeans and headed out to the Bi-State for the midnight show, Outlaw Blues' ' . After the show, kids drifted in and out at the breakfast of pan- cakes, bacon and eggs, served by the junior mothers. After eating, it was home or to par- ties of their own. Either way it was a night to remember! 71 gf 'K S ...H A' 5 A E rffy , 2' 3 an H ,Q ' 1 CW W, 'l I .
