MUSIC At the dedication of the new gym the first musical program was given The boys chorus girls' chorus mixed chorus and the band participated ln this program The program featured the mixed chorus ln a Fred Waring arrange ment of You'll Never Walls Alone ln this program many new band members were given their first chance to perform All music groups participated ln the annual Christmas P T A program The fourth grade played Christmas carols on their song flutes The song flute program was instituted this year to develop interest ln the pre band grades After the song flutes the audience heard the kindergarten children sing two songs complete with gestures under the direction of Mrs Robinson The mixed chorus also at this time gave a program of Christmas muslc An Easter oratorlo was planned to be held Aprll 6 as a joint civic and school project Sololsts were picked early by Mr Heller and Pastor Tatley was selected as the narrator Other groups who worked in the music department were the pep members who provided muslc at the games and the boys' quartet and girls' SCXIQIIB Robert Hansen was the accompanist for all musical groups as well as soloists We added twenty new players and instruments to the band this year The chorus took on a new looh with the new Nbel donated by the Music Boosters Letter Men The officers of the l.etteman's Club are President Janelle Henning Vice sponsored the Homecoming Banquet and sold at the games to send the basket hall teams to the tournaments Student Councll Dorothy Green was elected president We sponsored the Christmas program Senior Play Star Crazy is a three act comedy with the elements of romance astronomy and young people The senior class presented this play on April 4 Those ln the cast were Donna Olson Janelle Henning Marie Knudsen Grace Hoag Dorothy Schweln Robert Huetter Gene mann Lee Dovey and Jack Armstrong Jl.Il'lIOf Let 'Er Go Gallagher a three act comedy was the choice for the Junior Play The play is built around two ald age pension plans which caused an upset ln the lives of the young people sn the mountain community The people ln the cast were Arla Olson Mary Sheldahl Delores Duke, Dorothy Green JoAnn Green Ian Christensen Henry Knudsen Gary Braet and Ronnie Byerly 29 president, Sherwood Lahann and Secretary- Treasurer, Dorothy Green.
