I umor Class News We elected class offxcers as follows Presmdent Janelle Henmng V1ce Presxdent Robert Huetter Secretary Treasurer Dwam Goettsch and Student Council Sherwood Lahann In the fall of 1947 thxrteen green Freshxes entered Calamus High We were thorough ly mxtxated by the Semors, who forced the poor Freshles to kneel before them and chant a verse wluch proved to be qu1te monotonous as txme wore on However we passed the test and became promment members of h1gh school Before the year was over Jeannette Goddard formerly of Maquoketa and Dorothy Schwxen formerly of Chlcago Joxned our class Our Sophomore year proved to be much better We seemed to be more a part of thxngs Several of our students part1c1pated ln basketball baseball, and muslc Joann Morehead Jeannette Goddard and Jams Davxsson dropped out of our class and Dwa1n Goettsch formerly of Davenport joined us Now 1n our Jumor year we feel as though we have always belonged We have recelved our class r1ngs and are eagerly awaltxng our Jumor Senior Banquet Jack Armstrong formerly of Ohxo has Joined our class making xt a total of fourteen Sophomore Class News Presxdent Ronald Byerly Vice Pres1dent, Dorothy G Secretary Jan Chrxstensen Treasurer and Delores D Student Councll The Freshman and Sophomore Classes had a hayrxde together after whxch we had lot of fun pulling taffy Freshman Class News The offxcers of our class are as follows Presxdent Barton Pruhs V1ce Presxdent Jlm Byerly Secretary Treasurer Norman Bousselot and Student Counczl Lonnee Mllnes The fur st taste of hzgh school life the Fresh1es of 50 had was 1n1t1at1on For three days before we had to supply the Senxors wxth gum, have them s1gn a raw egg and bow down and say the Greek Alphabet The Freshman and Sophomore Classes had a party and hayrxde together Later the Freshmen held a return party for the Semors and hxgh school Several of us went out for basketball baseball and softball Colette Gorzney Myra Jean Olson and Lonnee Mmlnes went out for cheerleading Robert Stemes was manager for the boys team Several of us sang in the glee clubs and mxxed chorus . z . t . : . - . , : 1 .
