Senzor Class H :story President - - - - Jim Hor stmann Vice President - Kay Hansen Secretary-Treasurer - Frances Olson Student Council - - - Betty Miller On September 1 1947 sixteen enthusiastic Freshmen entered Calamus High Our class sponsor was Miss Harriet TenBoer During the year, Jamce Bruckman Joined us and Allan I-Iaack Gerald Behne and Charles Steinbeck left us On August 23 1948 we entered the doors of Calanuus High again but as Sophomores Mr Gundacker was our sponsor Clyde Kleinsrruth entered our class while Roger Kell left us We chose Jean Hansen as our candidate for carmval Queen As we began our third year, Kay Hansen and Dorothy Goodell joined our class Mr Gundacker was re elected class sponsor Under the capable direction of Mr Gundacker we presented our play Ready Made Family Our Junior Senior Banquet was held in April with a Spring theme Kay Hansen was nominated carmval Queen candidate Lois Saunders Helen Stolte Dorothy Goodell Tom Green, Harry Kallenbach and Merlin Wulf dropped out during the year 1950 Having been our class President since fifth grade we re elected Jim Horstmann once more Our sponsor was our home room teacher Mr Court At the carmval Jim Hor stmann and Janice Bruckrnan were crowned King and Queen On October 18 1950 our class had their pictures taken at Lasswell's Studio in Cedar Rapids Frances Olson was valedictorian Out of our class of twelve the following have spent all their school days together here at Calamus Betty Miller Mary Eden Jean Hansen and Jim Hor stmann Senzor Class W111 Mary Eden do wxll and bequeath my black hair to Janelle Henning Janice Bruckman do will and bequeath my love for boys to Edna Knudsen Jean Hansen do will and bequeath my love for Fords to Dorothy Green Clyde Kleinsmith do will and bequeath my shortness to Grace Hoag Keith Jensen do will and bequeath my ability to own a car to Gene Dunn Beverly Mueller do will and bequeath my basketball ability to P Neff Regina Vens do will and bequeath my ability to blush to Jim Byerly Frances Olson do will and bequeath my brains to Dorothy Schwien Jim Horstmann do will and bequeath my love for D Green to Bud McGlone Loren Christensen, do w1ll and bequeath my musical ability to L Court Betty Mxller do will and bequeath my typing bility to Darold Dzeckman I Kay Hansen do will and bequeath my long blonde hair to Delores Duke Calamus High threw its doors wide open for twelve Seniors on September 4, I, ' . . .
