CLASS OF 51 Presldent Jxm Horstmann Vlce Presldent Tom Green Secretary Treasurer Betty Mlllf Student Councxl Regxna In the fall of 47 sxxteen green Freshmen began thexr hrgh school Our class offxcers were as follows Presldent Jxm Horstmann V1ce Presxdent ces Olson Secretary Betty Mxller Treasurer Loren Chrlstensen Student Co Iom Green Our class sponsor was Harrlet Ten Boer On September 19 the Sophomores 1n1t1ated us The evenlng seemed to be nothlng but torture but xt ended well wzth a dance and refreshments Durmg the year Gerald Behne and Allan Haack left us whrle Jamce Bruckman and Helen Stolte Joxned us A return party was gxven by us to the hlgh school on October 10 whrch featured a Snake Dance and Treasure Hunt It seemed to be entertaxmng for everyone especlally the vandals who thought It was fun to plck up the clues Jxm Horstman Charles Stembeck Loren Chrlstensen and Kelth Jensen played on the baseball team The cheerleaders Betty Mxller and Jean Hansen were from our class On August Z3 1948 we entered the doors of Calamus Hxgh School agaxn but as Sophomores We welcomed Clyde Klemsmzth to our class Our class sponsor was Mr Gundacker On December 4 our class sponsored a roller skatxng party at whrch we all eagerly awaxted for the downfall of Mr Gundacker The hxgh school presented a carmval on November 5 We chose Jean Hansen as our candxdate for Queen Jnm Horstmann Loren Chrxstensen and Kerth Jensen played on the baseball team Betty Mxller Beverly Mueller and Jamce Bruckman played softball Harry Kallenbach Betty Mxller Beverly Mueller Mary Eden and Jamce Bruckman played on the two basketball teams Loren Chrlstensen and Jxm Horstmann were ln the Musxc Contest Boys Quartette. CLASS OF 1950 Presxdent Marcella Staggs Vxce Presxdent James Hendes Secretary Jean Hass Treasurer J'oAnn Gundacker Student Counc1l Marlene Malmanger On August Z0 1946 mneteen brlght eyed Freshles entered hlgh school We were duly mxtxated by the Sophomores and later we entertamed them at a return party Our sponsor was Mlss Harrxet Ten Boer and the offxcers elected by the class were, Phxlxp Huetter Presxdent Aloxs Mueller V1ce Presxdent, Lucxlle Meler Secretary and We held a skatmg party for the hxgh school and publlc and also put over a successful paper drlve When we entered our second year we lost three boys and gamed one gxrl Marllyn Bruckman, xn our class Offxcers elected for thxs year were Presldent Lucxlle Mezer V1ce Presldent Marlene Malmanger Secretary Marcella Staggs Treasurer Aloxs Mueller and student councxl Jean Hass Our class sponsor was Mrs J' O Mecklenburg When we trxpped mer r1ly mto our Iumor year one new member was added JoAnn Gundacker makmg a total of exghteen Many of our gxrls excelled ln basketball among them Georgxa Gage Marcella Staggs Marlene Malmanger Dolores Mueller J'oAnn Gundacker Aloxs Mueller and Lucxlle Meler We gave three skatlng partxes for the hlgh school at Davenport September Z7 January 8 and March 5 At the carmval our candldate for Queen A1015 Mueller was crowned as Queen over all of the other candxdates from the other classes Durmg the year Mr Clarence Westphal was our sponsor Our class play The Spooky Tavern was presented December 10 and Mr E Gundacker was our sponsor 12 Marcella Staggs, Treasurer. . cl it I . . FRESHMAN CLASS NEWS President Robert Huetter Vlce Presldent Harold Gorzney Secretary Lee Hovey Treasurer Jams Davxsson Student Counc1l JoAnn Morehead The usual welcome for the so called Freshles was the 1n1t1at1on Thxs year the vandals were the Semors mstead of the Sophomores All the members of our class wore Our fxrst task at the Inxtxatxon party was to walk bare footed down steps covered wxth shelled corn We then commenced to step ln molasses got ducked nn a tub of cold water crawled through a barrel attached to an electrxc shockmg machme On the black s1de the fun ledger we were honored wlth an assembly program The party was concluded wlth refreshments and dancmg The Freshman Class m turn gave the hxgh school a party Muslcal chalrs and a laughmg game were played The evemng ended wlth dancxng and refreshments Some of our boys went out for basketball They included Darold D1eckmann Bob Huetter Ralph Lee and Harold Gorzney Sherwood Lahann Bob Huetter Ralph Lee and Darold Dxeckmann partlclpated ln baseball Marne Knudsen Donna Olsen and Jams Davlsson Jomed the Gxrls Glee Club Four Freshmen boys belonged to Boys Glee Club They were Bob Huetter Darold Dxeckmann Lee Hovey and Robert Hansen Members of our class ln the Mlxed Chorus were Bob Huetter Lee Hovey Bob Hansen Darold Dleckmann Jams Davlsson and Marle Knudsen Lee Hovey offered lumself as the Creeper 1n a three act play gxven by the Jumors Our class sponsor was Mrs Donald Ramsey 14 hobo type of clothes, and were forced to carry the Seniors' books to class. . . .
