Dr. William A. Clemens of UC Berkeley, president of both the California Academy of Sciences and the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology, keynotes the Learning Through Discovery event. Business and intfiStry teaders were among the audience members, as well as alumni, emeriti, faculty, staff and stu- dents. The 60,000 square-foot structure includes 57 laboratories used for research and teaching in the School of Natural Science and Mathematics. The facility features a marine aquarium, new laboratory facilities for holography, laser and fiber optics, as well as a physiology computer room. It is also the only uni- versity science laboratory building in California in which all of the inside air is replaced with fresh, outside air. Over 450 students, faculty, staff and alumni came to gather for the opening of the new science lab center. Special guests and speakers included (left-right), Top row: A. B.
