Solemn Celebration For CSGF ' s Fourth President: Dr. Milton A. Gordon The President ' s Investiture Below: Professor Soraya Coley from the department of Human Development and Community Services walks in the Processional. For only the fourth time in the history of California State University, Fullerton, a Pres- ident has been named and invested. This sol- emn celebration, held on Commencement Lawn, took precedent over classes, which were cancelled, allowing all students and fac- ulty the opportunity to see California State University Chancellor Barry Munitz invest Milton A. Gordon with the authority and re- sponsibility of the office of the President. Gordon, having already served two years, was certainly aware of those duties. Also a part of the investiture was the awarding of an honorary doctorate given posthumously to Don Karcher. The fourth re- cipient of this honor, Karcher, who passed away May 19, was known for his involvement in the university including many fundraising efforts. Marring the celebration was a silent pro- test of a very small group protesting the ex- penditure of $25,000 for the investiture. Above: The 1993 Pres ident ' s Scholars
