He created a men- agerie of creatures including Big Bird, the Cookie Monster, Bert and Ernie and that infamous couple, Kermit and Miss Piggy. Mr. Henson died of pneumonia on May 16th 1990 at the age of 53. 33

Year In One of the few good men wito stood out during the Savings and Loan scandal was William Seidman. He worked hard to correct all of the problems that were caused. Unfortunately he had the re- sponsibility of paying all the people who lost money, resulting in millions of dollars lost. ' Janet Jackson ' s Rhythm Nation 1814 topped the charts in 1990 and 1991. She began as an actress on the tv series, Good Times and now has gained in- ternational fame. Year In ! 9 Russian President Mikhail Gorbachev realized the need for reforms in the country. With the people in the midst of a critical economic condition, he de- cided to make a change. The only prob- lem is that the Communist Party and the government can ' t agree on how to do it. Actress-Singer- ' Material Girl , Ma- donna has again stirred up controversy. MTV banned her Justify My Love video because of it ' s strong sexual con- tent.
