0 L Tl r e 9 Fof The The primary missions of the Uni- versity are to disseminate and to advance knowledge through the highest quality instructional pro- grams and scholarly and creative activities of which we are capable. In our efforts to achieve these pri- mary missions, our challenges include providing outstanding quality undergraduate, graduate, post-baccalaureate and continu- ing education programs for a stu- dent population which is increas- ingly diverse in age, socio-eco- nomic background, academic preparation, life experiences, learning styles, personal goals and educational needs. An important secondary mission is to serve the citizens of our com- munities with quality public out- reach and involvement programs. These programs include serving our communities as an essential regional cultural-intellectual -edu- cational center. Also important are the development of significant joint ventures for solving commu- nity problems and major coopera- tive efforts directed to the improvement of the quality of life in our service region.
