Donald Shields for his countless hours of work and dedication to Cal State University Fullerton. 0 L Tl r e 9 Fof The The primary missions of the Uni- versity are to disseminate and to advance knowledge through the highest quality instructional pro- grams and scholarly and creative activities of which we are capable. In our efforts to achieve these pri- mary missions, our challenges include providing outstanding quality undergraduate, graduate, post-baccalaureate and continu- ing education programs for a stu- dent population which is increas- ingly diverse in age, socio-eco- nomic background, academic preparation, life experiences, learning styles, personal goals and educational needs. An important secondary mission is to serve the citizens of our com- munities with quality public out- reach and involvement programs. These programs include serving our communities as an essential regional cultural-intellectual -edu- cational center. Also important are the development of significant joint ventures for solving commu- nity problems and major coopera- tive efforts directed to the improvement of the quality of life in our service region. A cooperative atmos- phere from all creates an envi- ronment of learning, success and careers for a diverse sec- tion of the country. A working environ with the serenity needed to relax and concentrate on books, serving the community or just the peo- ple around the campus. Visions on Campus lOS- ' nvi- cess sec- and )P0- CO The joys of laughing, singing and playing help the year along on the road to gradua- tion. Studying with concentration, sweating through classes that test endurance sonne- times leads to moments each individual never thought would approach. The final result hopefully being tears of joy and reward for our efforts. OUR teams are the greatest . . . our people the best. CSUF is a nationally known compe- titor, a champion in each sport and increas- ing participation in all fields. From Fullerton to New York — our students compete — physically and mentally. 0) 0) il :3 Sports compiled with studies . . . books pass hands for term paper drafts. Panic with fleeting thoughts, were turned into words that journalists published in the Daily Titan to keep the students of CSUF aware. Production of the Daily Titan continues with reports of art exhibits, music, science and historical happenings associated with Cal State. All of University life has a place on our campus. 12 m -i . ' i 14 Recteation ' - Social events sponsored by the Alumni along with special appearences by noted politicians helped students and faculty.
