32 Theme 4984 4984. ls it 4984 already? ln 4949 George Grwell wrote a book entitled 4-Q, in which he describes a totali- tarian society of the future, based on trends he saw in his time. He said this planet would be one of slogans and conformity. Ever since then, people have counted the years until 4984 wondering just how true this predic- tion might turn out to be. Many of OrweII's predictions have come true, but most of them have not. The world, as we know it now, is one of computers, unmaned satellites orbit- ing the earth, and ever-changing ideals. Everything is searching for their own identities and values, and no longer is conformity required for someone to be accepted in society. We live in a society where there is democracy rather than one of To- talitarianism and communism i l l Some of the students on campus come from all over the world They come from places such as Saudi Arabia, Viet Nam, Netherlands Germany and Austna The styles of dress on Cajon s campus ' range from GQ and high fashion to Mod to Punk to the traditional Levi s to Prep to New Romantic All of these show each person s different personalities
