L Cowgirls Break CIF ConsecuTive League Wins Record: Take FirsTs ln Two This year, Cajon's varsiTy volleyball Team Tied and broke The CIF record for consecuTive league wins. The previous record was aT ill games, and on OcTober 6, Cajon defeaTed BarsTow for iTs 'll2Th consecuTive league win. The Team ended Their season wiTh ToTal league wins aT 420 games. The Cowgirls' league re- cord was i5-O, and They posTed an overall record of 28-'l. Once again The Cowgirls, who were ranked number one in The3A CIF polls, wenT To The play-offs. They reached The finals, buT were defeaTed. The varsiTy Team parTicipaTed ln Two presTigious TournamenTs- The DeserT Classic, which is held aT Val- ley College, and The SouTh Pasadena TournamenT hosTed by SouTh Pasadena High School. The cowgirls Took firsT place Trophies home from boTh TournamenTs. Sheryl Benson was named MVP for boTh TournamenTs, and lvlerrllee Hicks made The All-TournamenT Teams aT boTh also. In The semi-finals aT The DeserT Classic Tour- namenT, Cajon defeaTed Rim of The World High School in a long-awaiTed maTch. Five Team members made The All-San Andreas League Team. They were Sheryl Benson, lvlerrilee Hicks, Leanne Cropsey, Karen Brawley, and Regina Davis. YveTTe Palmore received Honorable lVlenTion. Benson was named The League MVP. She was also The Team's CapTain and was voTed Team MVP. The Cow- girl Award wenT To Karen Brawley. Coach Naomi Ru- derman sTaTed, lT's been a year To remember!
