HARVEST OF HARMONY The 1986 Harvest of Harmony Pa- rade was held on a beautiful October day in downtown Grand Island. Van- essa Melch was selected by the band to be Centura’s candidate in the Queen Pageant. High school girls from across the state competed for the honor of reigning over the forty-fifth annual pa- rade. The day began with interviews for all the candidates. The rest of the day was filled with fun, and that eve- ning the Queen and her attendants were chosen. The next day, on October 4th, the parade was held, with over two hun- dred bands and floats participating. The marching Centurions finished in 3rd place in class C competition. SWEETHEART DANCE The Sweetheart dance was sponsored by the FHA and FFA clubs again this year. Karen Dethlefs was crowned Queen and Danny Williams was crowned King. They were chosen by the vocational clubs of FHA and FFA. Joan Berlie and Kurt Kroeger came back to crown the King and Queen. The dance was fun for all that attended.
