In the beginning of the year, the band impressed audiences and judges at half- time shows and contests. At the Burwell Marching Contest, the band placed second in both the street marching and the field marching events. Then on October 5th, the band performed in the Annual Harvest of Harmony Parade in Grand Island. After the marching season, the band played at numerous basketball games to raise spirit. Also during this time of the year, the band performed two concerts for the public audience to attend. An added bonus for the public was the Conference Band concert consisting of 39 Centurions. This was the first time that this concert was held at Centura. In April, the band and several small groups traveled to Hastings for the District Music Contest. ADMINISTRATION BOARD OF EDUCATION PRESIDENT: Bryan Christensen SECRETARY: Dorothy Heckman BOARD MEMBER: Alan Nielsen VICE PRESIDENT: Terry Gallagher TREASURER: Gary Christensen BOARD MEMBER: Vicki Madsen 58 ADMINISTRATION Mr. Glenn Blake has been the elementary principal for several years. He is always there to help any student with a problem. Teachers and students feel they can talk to him about any concerns that they may have. In addition to his elementary school duties, he was the Sr. High Wrestling coach for a second year. Even though he has many things to do, he is able to get them all done thoroughly. Our superintendent is Dean Drummond. His job is usually to balance the school budget and allow spending where it is needed in our school system. At the same time, he tries to improve the education of the students by providing them with up to date necessities, such as computers. This year he received the opportunity to get away from the desk and coach Centura’s golf team. The students and faculty and patrons of the communities all appreciate all of the work he does for our school. A face that is no stranger to students and faculty members is that of David Karr, our Jr.-Sr. High school principal. Among his many duties are preparing class schedules, controlling the student body and helping seventh graders adjust, as he helps seniors in their last year. He also makes time to work on the computer and teach photography. A special task for Mr. Karr this year was organizing all the Jr.-Sr. staff for the North Central Evaluation. This year, Mr. Karr had a new experience in coaching the tennis team. 59 Vicky Breiner • English Tom Hermance - Vocational Agrculture Wayne Lauritsen - Math FACULTY Jim Olsen • Math Cary Culler - English ] Jodi Fegley - Math Science 60 FACULTY Marjorie Hagstrom - Vocal Music Edward Ryan - Business Donna Eriksen • History Charles Wellenseik - Instrumental Music Emily Soderman - Business Bill Brown • History Vance Christensen - Guidance Counselor Annette Davis - Home Economics Carol Trumler - Art 61 FACULTY 62 Cynthia Brown - Librarian UNDERCLASSMEN JUNIORS Curt Baldwin Missy Bellamy Doug Brown Devin Brundage Brad Bushhousen Rick Buss Kyle Caspersen Cathy Conn Jeff Cuddie Karen Dethlefs Jeff Dubbs Brenda Hadenfeldt _____________________________________________________________________ Cheryl Hetfield The junior year for students is the busiest.
