The scene is set in the 1930’s in the Gilbreth household consisting of twelve children and a house- keeper. The plot includes a strict father and an understanding mother in their quest to raise their dozen as healthy, normal chil- dren, despite generation, communication and social gaps between parents, children, and friends. Centura’s speech team brought home two trophies this year in contest work. For the second year in a row, Centura cap- tured the LouPlatte Conference One Act Play championship. The play entitled “Lifeguards” won many compliments. Our other trophy won by the team was runner-up honors in Conference speech held at Centura. Centura won four su- periors and eight excellent ratings at Conference. Sally Nielsen won a third place trophy and a S300 scholar- ship at the Hastings’ Broken Heart Tournament. Laurel Roth won third, Greg Stutzman-fifth, and Judy Kalinowski and Dan Shoop-second at the Loup City Red Raider Tournament. In District, Robby Veeder qualified for State, while the Duet Acting and the Oral Reading of Drama won superiors. All in all it was a good year, but with graduation we have a sadness in our team as many of our team will not be with us next year. 68 ORAL READING OF DRAMA: “Ephemera Two Zero.” J. Kiser, D. I live in Managua, Nica- ragua. Central America. My father is an electrical engineer and my mother owns a beauty shop. I have a 14-year old brother and many friends. I came November 31 and stayed three months with the Richard Moffett fam- ily, with whom I had many memorable times. During my stay in the United States I learned many things from American students and American customs. Besides learning the English language. I learned the friendliness of the people. I won’t forget this experience because it was an important step in my life. I enjoyed every minute of my stay while I was away from home. I know there is no way to repay all the kindness everyone has shown me, but I will always cherish the memories I have. I can’t say enough thank yous but thank you is the only word that expresses my feelings toward you. So thank you friends, thank you Centura. I’ll keep you in my heart. 78 Jr. High Faculty MRS.
