And their sports Pigskins, liasketballs, Mereury's winged shoe-all have signi- ficance to C.H.S. students. These excite both spectators' and athletes' pride in Cairo High. Kick-off time-the eager crowd rises to its feet as the Big Blue line up. Crashing helmets, cleats digging into the ground-- the ball is downed-quarterback sneak, T-formation-a player charges down the field for a TD. Hardwood time-players compete-a heated gym and excited fans-the tip-off-a pass to a man under the basket-the shot is good for 2 points to tie the score-a foul-tension rises-the cheerleaders faithfully yell, That's okay, that's all right . . Cinder track time-fleet runners rounding the track, putting out all they can on that last lap-a pole vaulter giving a mighty pull-up and over-the discus thrower hurling the object with all his strength-the runner of the l00 yard dash cutting the string in I0 flat. The cleat marks fade, the heated gym is empty, and the saw- dust pits are covered, but the loyalty and pride still are fresll in the records of C.H.S. Page 45
