Mr. George read Shakespeare's famous play Hamlet to his English Literature students. Larry Rosenstengel Eva Smith This year additional semester courses in litera- ture, grammar-composition, and writing courses were offered to juniors-Seniors. Term papers were written, grammar was re- viewed, and novels such as Huck Finn were read. Freshmen and Sophomores continued with their full year English courses reading Great Expectations and Silas Marner. Daisy Kennedy Dept. Head loyce Alexander Richard Buxton loseph Eble George Gilley Monty Gum The Freshman Homeroom classes studied fields ranging from Shakespeare to poetry, modern music, the Constitution, and history careers. Plays were introduced to Freshmen beginning with ROMEO AND IULIET by Wil- liam Shakespeare. They acquired a greater understanding of the novel through the in- tense study of GREAT EXPECTATIONS by Charles Dickens. Some classes related poetry and all its aspects to the modern music of Sonny and Cher. Papers were written by Freshmen on selected careers. A keen insight of our government was gained by Freshmen as they viewed the United States Constitution, the Illinois State Constitution, and the history of Cahokia. Frosh studied hard, but had fun too. G.A.A. initiate clowns before cafeteria audience to earn membership.
