Juniors filled the piggy bank We, the seniors of 1959, have, indeed, a great deal to be proud of. In the past four years, we have passed through perhaps the most wonderful part of our lives. We are proud to have had the privilege of spending these years at Cahokia. When at last we hang up our moceasins for the final time, we will remember sadly, but also happily, the good times we had during these four years. lt was not all fun, but through experience we learned there is a serious side to life, as well as the lighter side. As freshmen we first had the privilege of attend- ing tribal functions. But still, it was the seniors we looked up to and respected. Our turn would come. Our sophomore year is truly one we will never forget. We tossed our offering-a piece of wood- into the tribal fire and became full-fledged Comanf ches. We now had the responsibilities of tribesmen. Rhapsody in Blue, our junior prom, was carried out in blue and silver. This was our greatest group accomplishment thus far. But we knew our greatest accomplishments were yet to come. lkiany nights were spent during football and basketball seasons working in our trading post to finance our prom. At last we are seniors. We face the future with courage and high hopes. We are sorry to leave our beloved reservation, but we are even prouder to have reached the last rung of the ladder. For us, it is not the end, but the beginning, and as we say good-bye, we step aside to let the juniors become rul- ers of the reservation and of the Comanche heritage. Seniors have they to future The junior class of 1959 has accomplished a rec! ord that can be respected by those who follow. Through their co-operation and hard work they have been able to expand the interest of their class activi- ties. Under the direction of their sponsors, Miss Shirley Erwin, Nr. Leslie Brumfield, hir. Bill Orr, Mr. Bennie llarris, and Mr. llarrison Thomas they have participated in various activities with the idea of building their treasury. The junior class took complete charge of the con- cession stands at both the football and the basket- ball games. They sold stationery with a sketch ol' our higl1 school printed on it. The Profits from these projects went toward their main goal-the staging of the junior-senior prom. , llomecoming was truly a memorable occasion for them. Although they spent many hours decorating their lloat for tl1e parade, their work was not in vain. Their Victory Ship rewarded them with a first place in the llomecoming Parade. 'ljhe crowning of the new l958 llomecoming Queen also brought honor to the junior class be- cause hliss Beverly Vvyrick, a junior, was crowned queen. Later, at Christmastime, the junior class was proud to have Miss Iudy Neuf crowned F. Il. A. Sweetheart Queen at the annual Christmas Dance. Camera caught history class in happy mood. Larry Betz, Presidentg Larry Oden, Vice-President: Herbie Rainbolt, Secretaryg Pat Levin, Treasurer. Aside from thc recreation and activities the juniors had a more serious jobgthat of fulfilling their desire to acquire an education. And finally in April, the receiving ol' their class rings was a cause for great excitement. As the year ended tl1e juniors had only one more year to eompleteg they will be stepping into the whole new and exciting world of a senior. 0 4 qwv I 3 kk XX wh!
