BOYS' ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION B. Kruppenbach, Mr. Polischak, Rau, Witwer, Miller This year the Roys' Athletic Association under the direction of John Polischak, elected their leaders for the year. They were: Paul Miller, pres- iientg Eugene Witwer Vice president- David Rau secretary' and Harry Krup- penbach, treasurer. J . J 3 I 9 L . The Toys' Athletic Association secures its funds from dues, which the boys pay throughout the year, and also from admission to basketball games. From these funds they purchase new equipment for all sports. In the fall and throughout the winter months, the boys play touch foot- ball, soccer, and basketball on the school canmus. These games sometimes nrove to be interesting and exciting. During the spring they begin baseball traininf and in past years this sport has been successful for the boys in both the Tri-County League and Berks County League. The purpose of the Athletic Association is to interest boys in sports. 46

Shirk, Rossman, Berstler, McFarland, Ethel Moyer, Dampman, Sagner, Witwer The Caernarvon High School Band, under the direction of Robert Zwally, has made several public appearances. They participated in parades of all oc- casions, carvinals, spring concerts, commencement and many other events. New uniforms were bought for members of the color guard.Also,a new suza- phone was added to the band. Another added attraction was the junior major- etts. These four small girls appeared with the band on various appearances, especially parades. A new and colorful attraction in the band was the flag twirlers. These girls have uniforms Similar to those of the cheerleaders and twirl blue and gold flags. 45

GIRLS' ATHIEIIC ASSOCIATION 'fsnwm-n ..,,,N Mrs. Groff, Montgomery, Eshelman Bannon, Witwer One of the first organizations to be started at the beginning of every year, is the Girls' Athletic Association under the direction of M s. Dorothy Groff. All girls are asked to belong to the organization. Officers were elected during the first meeting of the association. Elsie Eshelman was elected as president, Betty Witwer, vice president, Mary Bannon, secretary, and Shirley Ann Montgomery, treasurer. Each year the Girls' Athletic Association members sell refreshments at the basketball games in order to earn money to purchase their own athletic equipment. This year the association purchased new basketball suits and warm- up jackets for the girls' basketball team, a medicine kit, megaphones, sweaters for junior cheerleaders, as well as athletic equipment. 47
