CLASS HISTORY We were a frightened group of students that fall of l9h8 when we first en- tered the doors of Caernarvon.Twenty-seven nervous freshmen flocked to room one, where we were greeted by John Polischak, who was our adviser in our first year. Eugene Witwer was chosen as president, with Barry Kruppenbach following as vice president. Our secretary was Mary Bannon and Jo-Ann Beck acted as treasurer. This year some of the braver boys, such as Paul Miller, Leonard Gehret and Richard McElroy, went out for basketball. 0f the girls only Shirley Ann Mont- gomery had the courage to face the upperclassmen. Baseball claimed Paul Miller and George Mountz. Being inclined to music, we contributed Jo-Ann Beck, Janet Beck, Richard McElroy, Phyllis Buchler and Barry Kruppenbach to the school band. Leaving our freshman year behind us and entering into our sophomore year,we dropped six classmates by the wayside. This left us with a remainder of twenty- two to carry on the sophomore activities. Officers were: Paul Miller, presidentg Eugene Witwer, vice presidentg Mary Bannon, secretaryg and Mabel Rhoads, treasurer. This year Irene Lilley and Betty Jean Pike joined Shirley Ann Montgomery in basketball, the rest of the boys in the class, who were athletically inclined, joined the boys' team. We sold chocolate milk and orange drink this year in order to raise some cash for our class trip. We sponsored two roller skating parties with the help of our adviser, Mr. Polischak. Our class adviser in our junior year was Hahn Falkler, the commercial teach- er.Under her supervision we sold Christmas cards and potato chips, presented our class play,WTake Your Medicinengand entertained the seniors at the annual Junior Prom. Another big event was receiveing our class rings. Class officers were: David Rau,president3 Gene Witwer, vice-president, Mary Bannon, secretaryg and Shirley Ann Montgomery, treasurer. Having lost a few members, which decreased our number to eighteen, we still had a majority participating in sports and music. With great expectations we entered our senior year. We now had only fifteen members and we dJ.strived and worked, under the supervision of Mrs.Dorothy Groff, to present, WPeck's Bad Boy.H The class officers for our final year in Caernarvon were:Barry Kruppenbach, president, David Rau, vice presidentg Mary Bannon, secretaryg Eugene Witwer, treasurer. With these as our leaders we sold candy, held bakes and made plans for the usual senior activities. Mary Bannon was chosen as HBlugoldH editor, and Jo- Ann Beck was elected as business manager. As we leave the doors d'Caernarvon behind us forever,we sincerely hope that our future years will be as enjoyable as those in Caernarvon High School. Those were the best years of our lives! 23
