There is a little finishing canter before coming to a stand still. There is time to hear the kind voice of friends and to say to one's self: The work is done. But-just as one says that, the answer comes: The race is over, but the work never is done while the power to work remains. The Canter that brings you to a stand still need not be only coming to a rest. It cannot be, while you still live. For a live is to function. Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. PRESIDENT V. Their daughter invited mother's onetirne sweetheart for a visit. Mrs. Preston was horrified! She must have a butler and a maid! It was so simple. You see. Bhejusf ..... It didn't work out so good. The new butler was a robot. The fun was fast and furious. Ev e r y part was a distinct characterization - - the dictatorial mother Uudy Crawfordj, the hen-pecked father QBill Rogersj, the robot fKen Welshj, the family pest fNancy Bovenizerl, the dumb cop fRon Selwayj, the crook fChuck Leeserj, the maid QPeg Leej , the inventor QBill Steerj, the cook fCindy Pettayj, the daughter QLinda Parrishj, Mama's beau lGeorgeJenkinsl, and his daughter QKay Riderj. All in all it was the best play treat of the season, as Mrs. Preston found that th e aquisition of a Butler and Maid did not as expected, contribute to an enjoyable visit by her old beau. The automatic Butler proved to be he r disliked boarder, and the maid was an accomplice of the slickest jewel thief in the c ount ry. This proved to be Mrs. Preston's downfall as the robbery took place in her husbands shop. The fun b e g an when Mrs. Preston's Beau and his daughter were arrested as the thief and his accomplice. All in all, it proved an enjoyable evening for the audience of 400 delighted viewers. The play wa s held in the Cadiz High School Auditorurn, on Friday Evening, December 13, 1958.
