JUNIOR AND SENIOR TRIP The Junlor and Senlor trlp started Apr-11 19 1956 There were 11 Semors from the Sugar Creek Hxgh School that went w1th us The flrst day we tra veled through Ohlo and West V1rg1n1a and arrxved at Pmttsburgh Pennsylvama about 4 30 That mght we toured Plttsburgh and took a rzde on the 1nc11ne We started early the next mormng travehng on the Pennsylvama Turn pxke to Gettysburg Here at Gettysburg we took a tour of the town and then got a gu1de to take us on the tour of the battlefleld and explam the dlfferent tactxcs used 1n the f1ght1ng We then traveled from Gettysburg to Washlngton D C and the gulde showed us the bulldmgs we would tour the next day We arr1ved at the Frankhn Park Hotel about 7 O0 that evemng Our flrst stop on Saturday was at Wash1ngton Monument We walked to the top and looked at the dlfferent sxghts We then went to the Whlte House Here we v1s1ted the famous East Room the Green Room the Red Room the Blue Room and the State D1n1ng Room Next we V1S1tCd the Smlthsoman In stltute We spent about two hours he re and went on to vxslt the Cap1tolBu1ld mg Here we took a tour of the Rotunda Senate Chamber Lower Corrldors Statuary Hall House Chamber and the Works of Art We thenvlsxted our Rep resentat1ve Ralph Harvey Our next stop was at the Congress1onal L1brary whlch contams two books of every book and publlcatlon whxch IS copyrxghted ln the Umted States The rest of the day was spent at the Jefferson and L1n coln Memor1als On Sunday mornlng we attended the New York Avenue Presbyterlan Church where the f1lm A Man Called Peter was fxlmed We then v1s1ted the Arlmgton Cemetery where the Tomb of the Unknown Soldler IS located Here we v1s1ted the house gardens and the tomb Sunday evenmg we took a Moonhght Crulse down the Potomac Rwer to an amusement park The next mormng we v1s1ted the Independence Hall at Phlladelphla Penn sylvan1a We arr1ved 1n New York through the famous Llncoln Tunnel The s1ghts we saw 1n New York were the following NBS Studxos Rmglmg Bros 81 Barnum 81 Balley Cxrcus Chmatown Rad1o C1ty Mus1c Hall Tour around Manhatten Island Statue of Llberty Cathedral of St John the Dxvme the tomb of Grant Umted Natlons Bulldmg and Rockefeller Center The next day we spent 1n travelmg to Rochester New York where we spent the mght We arr1ved at Nlagara Falls about ll O0 a m After lookmg at the top of the falls we went to the bottom of the falls We then went to the Cave of the Wmds and the Three Sxsters Island We then crossed mto Canada and went under the famous Horseshoe Falls and awaxted untll dark to see the falls at nxght We then went to Hamllton Ontar1o to spend the mght Next day we spent on the road to Detrolt M1ch1gan We stopped at Lon don Ontarxo to vxslt the Kellogg Factory After arrxvmg at Detrolt we v1s1ted an aquarxum and saw d1fferent kxnds of fxsh Then we vxsxted a planetarlum and saw plants from dxfferent forexgn countz-1es The flrst stop the next daywas the Ford Museum Here we saw old automo b1les f1re engmes locomotwes farm machmery and many other thmgs We arr1ved home at 6 O0 P M that evenmg Z4 ' vu vu ' ' ' Our next stop was at Mt. Vernon which was the home of George Washington.
