Finally, graduation appeared and with it came the close of the schoolyear. No longer could we compare school and job. Now the time had come for us to leave, for us to go out and work in society with all we had learn- ed here at Cache. It is WE who must now carry on the American traditions. Like the Pac-Man game, our course had been run and we could only look at the score of our school-life events and reminisce at the growth we made in our encounters at each turn. But, unlike the arcade games, our life will come to an end on earth without “ex- tended play.” So as we close the yearbook and the memories hidden within its pages, we live on with thankfulness for all pertinent knowledge we accumulated at Cache during the 1982-83 year. With that knowledge, we S will make our short lives productively-Pac'd. V 24

This special year can be earmarked with so many notable sidelights: the economy took a Depression-like plunge; a new football league, the U.S.F.L., coaxed the Heisman-trophy win- ner Herschel Walker into forfeiting his college degree and senior year in college to become a professional athlete; “Ghandi” topped E.T.” for the honor Movie of the Year ; a survey suggested such proposals as an eleven-month school year be implemented; and George Nigh became the first Oklahoma governor to suc- ceed himself in office. But, in Cache, we students had to learn a lesson on life in the most cruel of means through the death of one we all knew. We wondered at how one so young could be snat- ched from us. But that educator was not silenced forever by the awesome slap of death. Actually, he taught us even in his death and whenever we reflect on his passing. He taught us as he lived to survive with strength against overwhelming odds. He taught us by his death to live on and honor his lesson to us by living to the fullest of the potentials that God has given us. He was a coach ... he was a teacher... he was a friend ... he IS. and always should be, an inspiration to excel until we, too, lie to rest. Inspirationally-Pac'd. exciting fun 23
