W YEAS 'FAC'ACE iMFVM • • • • Once we all avoided boy germs or “girls germs ; shunned outward affection; called romantic movies corny” or mushy”. But for many in 1982-83, that special feeling — LOVE — shared with someone else who cared and you felt you could trust without bounds, was perhaps the one aspect of this school year that we’ll vividly remember and relate experiences from for the remainder of our lives. Ah, the dates were all so special, and all seemed to be a learning experience; the night we bought a meal we found we couldn’t afford; the many stops at the quick food shops; getting so full of pizza that we felt we’d bust, then laughing ourselves sick; getting dressed up to go eat at a fancy eating establishment; tranquil farm; our first fight; making up or breaking up; the special night we’ll remember as “our prom.” And as we walk into the sunlight of a world of new adventures, we can hold the hand of one with love who’ll say, I care — I’ll always be there.” A “love-Pac’d year to recollect down the ages when our hearts may slow or sputter, but will never lose the warmth they first felt in 1982-83. It’s inevitable to go through any school without feeling the brunt of an invisible weight caused by studying for three tests in one day; breaking up with a long-time special friend and then getting a low grade the same day; or working until 3:00 a.m. and then having a test at 9:05 that same morning. It seemed that no one really understood how much they ex- pected of us. Life seemed funny in these moments, when we could divorce ourselves from the hectic situations at hand, look back at them, and laugh at the world: we worked so hard to hold our chins up whn these respon- sibilities seemed to be an unconquerable burden that we failed to notice that we had ac- complished more than we, or anyone else, thought we could handle. It was comforting to know we shared tough times like others ... our friends, teachers, and parents ... in a busy, “pressure-Pac'd year.

• Providing • • Highlights in 1982-83 Life and school at Cache are both finite. For some of us, 1982-83 introduced that magical senior year at our public school academic lives. To a few, it was an end to a dedica- tion they had endured to the best of their abilities at this time. To most, however, 1982-83 will be remembered fond- ly for all the joys and yes, even the trials we encountered throughout the year, not just for the pride in graduating af- front beaming relatives. Regardless of how we pupils perceived the school year shown in these pages, as dif- ferent as those thoughts were, we all had one thing in com- mon: when the pages of history will be authored for this mo- ment in time, our entire students population can note with an asterisk that “we were there.” As meaningless as some things may have seemed as they occurred, we must look back and realize that this past year was historically-Pac'd”. 19

MEM«liES (III TIMES If they weren't our love, they were our friend. And as friend, we conjunctively shared the year in so many ways that some couldn’t see as fun, but we did: taking out in the parking lot until the tardy bell rang; getting in trouble together while playing pranks; trying to spice up the class parties; reading “The Challenger with a buddy and laughing at our own silliness; voicing our opinions in class meetings with the sole incentive of drawing a chuckle; chasing each other in the school buildings without get- ting nabbed by an irate teacher; sitting beside each other and talking, or sleeping, in an assembly; trading food in the cafeteria; and sharing moments of joy or shedding tears together. When we leave Cache, are we ready to embark on a career of new responsibilities? Marriage? College? Leaving home for the first time? As we graduate in 1983, can we really conceptualize a life where such dear friends may never be seen altogether again after we walk out of the gym following commencement exercises? With all these upcoming changes, it’s nice to have this annual... a momento of a “memory-Pac'd year. 21
