CATCH T Bulldog Fever Classroom Fever In 1982-83, the video games came into full swing as a popular form of recreation and relaxation. Behind the color- ful screen of the quarter-gobbling machines such as “Pac-Man laid a complex maze of technical, electronic giz- mos. As a student playing Pac-Man, one had to ponder some questions of deep analogy. Is Pac-Man a symbol of American social authority when, once energized, chases we, the students of life — the posterity and future of the system, around with awesome power? Is the Pac-Man game analogous to life in that on the surface of its game, like the game of life — the game our teachers at Cache keep calling the “real world” — simplicity abounds, but underneath it all is a mess of things which when properly arranged makes it possible to simplify our future like the Pac-Man game, where we'll be judged as successful only if we accumulate a high total of socially-acceptable points? Perhaps what our parents, teachers, administrators, relatives, friends, and neighbors, leaders, and preachers have been telling us for years is true: life is, like Pac-Man, a game where we have the responsibility and controls in our own hands to make it or break it. As we reflect through these pages of the 1982-83 yearbook, it becomes evident how many educational lessons on life and responsibilities we learned at Cache both inside the classroom and outside its four walls. Indeed, 1982-83 was Pac'd with excitement, lessons, highpoints, and low mortients — all of which prepared us for our lives beyond the walls of Bulldog pride and character. 18

• Providing • • Highlights in 1982-83 Life and school at Cache are both finite. For some of us, 1982-83 introduced that magical senior year at our public school academic lives. To a few, it was an end to a dedica- tion they had endured to the best of their abilities at this time. To most, however, 1982-83 will be remembered fond- ly for all the joys and yes, even the trials we encountered throughout the year, not just for the pride in graduating af- front beaming relatives. Regardless of how we pupils perceived the school year shown in these pages, as dif- ferent as those thoughts were, we all had one thing in com- mon: when the pages of history will be authored for this mo- ment in time, our entire students population can note with an asterisk that “we were there.” As meaningless as some things may have seemed as they occurred, we must look back and realize that this past year was historically-Pac'd”. 19
