ALL-AREA FORWARD Charlie Ange BASKETBALL AWARDS Jfci.-lrt Ant Charlie Ange, Junior Brent Ash, Senior Denny Parton, Junior 107 2ND WINNING SEASON SET BY 78-79 SQUAD The mighty Bulldogs marched through its 10-game slate to mark the second winning season in the school's football history since its start nine years ago. Head coach Bill Hunt in his second year with the Bulldogs led the team through an exciting 7 win-4 loss season and into play-off competition for the first time. Coupled with experience, a deter- mined offense, and a strong defense, it was a year that saw the Bulldogs improve steadily with every game win- ning impressively over traditionally tough teams as Temple, Snyder, Walters, Apache. The Bulldogs exploded with 22 points in the second quarter to bomb the Mt. View Tigers 36-0 in the opening game. Kneeling: Head coach Bill Hunt; left to right: Walter Chrismon, Mike Millwee, Eugene Fikes, Assistants. 1st row: S. Cox, K. Cable, F. Apauty, B. Hollander, R. Pocowatchit, E. Statistics showed definite yard advantage (212-168) for the Bulldogs, but the exces- sive penalties proved too much to overcome. Determined to be winners, the Bulldogs fought back and proved fans with some mem- orable victories — rolling past Waurika 15-6 in their homecoming game — shut- ting out Empire 7-0 — dump- ing rugged Snyder club 30-7 — stunning Walters in a thrilling 13-10 overtime vic- tory. In district competition, Cache experienced the thrill of victory against Walters and Apache and the agony of defeat in their loss to the Frederick Bombers 34-7 which placed them as run- ners-up in District 6-A. In regional rounds, Hobart stopped Cache's hopes for a regional crown with a 34-10 loss, but, despite the disap- pointments, Cache recorded their best mark ever as indi- viduals and as a team. 110 Post season district acclaim went to D. D. Atauvich — back, Stephen Cook — Linebacker, Rodney Edmonson — Second- ary, Elmer Fort — Linebacker, Rusty Fraze — End, Eddie John- son — Lineman, George Poah- way — Lineman. Stephen Cook was named Defensive Player of the Year. Coach Hunt received Coach-of-the-Year honors. All Area players as named by the Lawton Constitution were Rodney Edmonson — Halfback and Eddie Johnson — Lineman. Coach Hunt was named Area Coach-of-the-Year. Coach Hunt and his assistants — Eugene Fikes, Walt Chris- mon, and Mike Millwee are to be praised and commended for their diligence and hard work in making this a successful year for the Bulldogs. ! r. 1st row: M.
