Grade School students settled into one year to be filled with not only facts from books but with new friendships and experiences. Jr. High became accus- tomed to the hectic changes between classes while antici- pating the goals to be reached in High School. Senior High students accepted their roles in classes and took on responsi- bilities of grades, offices, and duties as they realized that the end of a high school career was finally in sight. Through these pages we, the annual staff, hope to bring to you the fun, the disappointment, the work, the boredom, and the excitement that made the 1970-71 school year a happening to remember. So it is with education. Minds open to instruction and with guidance, learning becomes a growing and beautiful experience. 8 Here are the memories of feeling the desire and pride of winning and the humility of losing. With an end to sports' season, the point to stress is not the record made, but the importance of attitudes and sportsmanship. Practice Sweat Fatigue Anxiety Defeat Victory , SPORTSMANSHIP DEDICATION Each year the Bulldog staff dedicates the yearbook to some individual. This year it was decided to dedicate the 1971 Bulldog to not one, but three people, Mr. Lauderdale, Mrs. Donaldson, and Mrs. Burnett. They are retiring from their positions at Cache and in this way we can express our appreciation for the work they have done. Mrs. Marion Burnett graduated from Southwestern State College with a B. A. She taught in Washita County, Retrop and Rocky before coming to Cache in 1967. She has five children and a dozen grandchildren. Mr. T.E. Lauderdale has a B.S. degree from Southwest- ern State, 1934, and an Ed. M. degree from O.U., 1939. He was principal at Butler and Roosevelt, and superintendent at Roosevelt, Washita, and Ninnekahbefore comipg to Cache in 1953. He is a member of theO.E.A. andC.E.A. and holds life membership in the N.E.A. and A.A.S. A. Mrs. Donaldson, who earned her B.A. at O.C.U. and Masters at O.U., came to teach at Cache in 1952. She was honored in 1969 as T e a c h e r of the Year from Comanche County. She is also a member of the O.E.A. and N.E.A. My years at Cache as a second grade teacher have been rich in experiences both humorous and inspiring. I have en- joyed the teachers and administrators that it has been my privilege to associate with. To the students who have kept me on toes, I salute you! I'm looking forward to a more leisurely pace. With each problem which arises, many different points of view must be taken into consideration; those of not only faculty members, but those of the students as well. Without the cooperation of each member a decision would not be reached. These men successfully meet many problems as they serve as members of the Cache School Board. Miss Plumlee, the music instruc- tor, is in charge of the music hour in grades 1-6. In addition, she teaches social studies one hour each day in the sixth grade. Mrs. Crunkleton is the Remedial Reading teacher. The purpose is to increase weak reader's reading skills, thus increasing his reading level, through the use of extra mat- erials and programs that widen his reading experiences. Remedial Reading does not take the place of their regular reading class, but merely supplements it. Students come in groups of 6-8 from grades 1-6 daily for thirty minutes. (Approximately 55 students daily.) More students attend from lower grades (1-3). 77 The duties of Mrs. Tartsah (left) and Mrs. Henderson are to do clerical jobs for Mr. Donaldson and the grade faculty. They answer the telephone, grade papers, assume the duties of teachers when they become ill, and any other job that might come up. They are an intregal part of Grade School. PTA is a national organization that unites parents and teachers on behalf of the children. The PTA strives to improve the environment in which their children live and work. The main objectives of the national organization are to raise standards of home life, to secure protection for the children and to bring educators and the general public together to secure the highest possible education for the youth. Elected as officers for the 1970-1971 year were: Wayne Gipson, President; Inola Ash, Vice- President; Roberta Bishop, Treasurer; and Pat Hollander, Secretary. These officers are the leaders of the local PTA, and they have the backing of the entire club in any effort to better the educational institution for their children. 78 Cache P.T.A.
