Cabot took the opening kickoff and marched 60 yds. for an early lead. The Panthers defense held the Blsons to no flrst downs in the first half and only six points for the game. Buddy Coker lead the defense with 15 tackles and 1 interception. The Panther offense gained 370 yds. behind the passing and play calling of Steve Elliott. CABOT vs JOE T. ROBINSON - A tough Panther defense held a fast Senator running attack during a first half rainstorm and went ahead to win 14-0. Cabot's offense couIdn't get rolling until late In the third quarter, when Steve Jameson capped a 64 yd. drive with a Syd. plunge for the touchdown. On the next possesion the Panthers again scored and the defense held several Senator threats to ice the game over. CABOT vs LONOKE - The Panthers once again skinned the Lonoke Jackrab- bits 31-20 for their first conference victory. Gary Barker scored twlce on runs of 6 and 2 yds. to open up the Rabbit defense. OPPOSITE BOTTOM: This year's Panther squad was lead by twen- ty-two seniors who haven't been on a losing team since the eighth grade. TOP: Ronnie Corbisley grinds out more yardage against Lonoke. BOTTOM: Steve Elliott picks up some good blockers in Steve Jameson and Danny Bell as he runs on a keeper against Lonoke. 21 Panther Football Panthers Capture The 1972 County Championship CABOT vs BRYANT - In a thriller the Panthers pulled out a 7-6 vlctory over the Bryant Hornets. Wlth 1:29 remaining in the game Gary Barker plunged 1 yd. for the tieing score and Danny Bell booted the PAT for a hard earned vlctory. The Hornets came back with a last minute drlve completing passes deep in Panther territory, but was cut short by an interception by Mark Lowman. If CABOT vs SHERIDAN - In a defensive struggle that matched two un- defeated teams in 6-AA the Panthers succumbed to the Sheridan Yellow- jackets by the score of 6-0. After a scoreless flrst half the Yellowlackets came V out and drove down to score but failed the PAT. The Panthers then put together two drives that went deep into Sheridan territory but were stalled by a tenacious Yellowjacket defense. CABOT vs WHITEHALL - The Panthers squeaked by on a 31 yd. field goal by Danny Bell and defeated the Whitehall Bulldogs 10-8. Early in the second quarter Ronnie Corbisley scampered 39 yds. to set a Steve Elliott quarterback sneak for the T.D. Whitehall came back with a long touchdown pass and a two point conversion. With time running out the Bulldogs fought their way down to the Panther 16 yd. line but safetyman Mike McNerlln went high in the alr to intercept and seal the victory. CABOT vs LAKESIDE - The Panthers won a hard fought game from the Lakeside Rams by 12-7. Steve Elllott passed to John See for two touchdowns. The Panther defense held the Rams to only 117 yds. and the offense racked up 245 yds. lt was a great victory especially for the seniors who played their last game for C.H.S. OPPOSITE LEFT: Ronnie Sanders and Pete Spence take a breather dur- ing a game. OPPOSITE RIGHT: Ralph Corely gives a good second effort against Carlisle. TOP: The Panther offense lines up against the Oak Grove Hornets, the Panthers came out on top 37-12. LEFT: The scoreboard denotes the outcome of our rival match with the Carlisle Bisons. It is an interdenominationai group which meets weekly in the homes of its members. The main purpose of Young Life is to acquaint its members with the problems of high school students and to provide a Christian answer to these problems. 0 Zi Each year, Young Life takes a trip to the Colorado Rockies for an exciting week of skiing and winter fun. This past December 26, eleven students and one faculty advisor from Cabot went to Snow Camp. Any Young Life member can go on these trips.
