GIBRALTAR We spent four days in drydock on the Rock while the British installed a new screw. Despite the discomforts of no water, no heat, no electricity, our stay was a pleasant one. A lonely bastion of empire, Gibraltar was a varied, color- ful naval station. The shops were a bargain hunter's paradise, the liberty excellent, the people courteous, and of many races -English, Spanish, Arab and East Indian. We gazed at-and were gazed at by-the Barbary Apes. We bought silksand tweeds, perfumes and linens, from beau- tiful East Indian salesgirlsi We nightclubbed and watched Spanish senoritas dance the fandango. A few found time to wander through the intricate maze of tunnels that is Gibral- tar underground. Exchanging honors with the HMS lndomitable ln Drydock Entering Drydock
