CABARRUS MEMORIAL HOSPITAL SCHOOL OF NURSING CONCORD, N.C. 28025 DEDICATION Often in life we neglect to stop and tell those very influential people in our lives how truly important they are. We, the Class of 1984, would like to take a moment to say, 'Thank You, to Mrs. Alice Rad- cliffe, R.N. She has truly been an inspiration for us to keep going through all the times we thought we wouldn't make it. She shows sincere interest as well as guidance in helping us attain our goals. She ex- presses never-ending concern in our class and its activities. She always shares a warm smile and an en- couraging word, finding something good to brighten even the worst day. To you, Mrs. Alice Radcliffe, we say Thank You in this very special way. IN APPRECIATION When we were just beginning we had our fears which was only natural but even then we knew that you were a very special friend. Throughout the course you have shown us affection and have always been there when we needed someone Together we have shared laughter, and the joys of learning And through the time We hope that we have returned to you some of the understanding you have unselfishly given to us. We are forever grateful, Mrs. Anita Talbot and appreciate you more and more. Mrs. Anita Talbot, Student Services Coordinator HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATION NURSING SUPERVISORS E. Kluttz, S. Underwood, B. White stockings hung by the vent with care In hopes that tomorrow Would never get there. The instructors were nestled All snug in their beds While visions of needled oranges Danced in their heads. In the dorm the clocks rang with a clatter The students sprang up knowing the matter. And what to their wandering minds seemed to appear Syringes, vials and ampules so clear. They spoke not a word but went straight to the lab And with sterile technique Gave their first stab. As fluorescent lights fell on the nurse's notes With lustrous pride the students wrote. And the students exclaimed with their lively step Injections to all, get the alcohol prep. Sir, I don't know where your Fruit of the Looms are! Is it Friday yet? Anecdotal Time! Now remember this is sterile. Um, Um, Alrighty! 8 Now just think about where it goes. We have found that the true meaning of nursing goes hand-in-hand with dedication, hours of study, and lots of prayer. We have learned to set our goals high, and that the most satisfying goals aren't always the easiest to achieve. However, we could not have met these goals without the support of instructors, CMH staff, friends and most of all, our families. We have matured in many ways, emotionally, educationally, socially and spiritually. As we each look towards our individual futures, we'd like to leave the recipe for this achievement: 3 cups of self-confidence 1 sprinkle of faith 2 dozen friendships 1 teaspoon of professionalism Mix and stir these ingredients with adequate amounts of love and support to create a rewarding career and promising future. Serve with a gentle touch and a genuine smile. 12 DELUSIONS ILLUSIONS REFLECTIONS OF BUTNER 13 FRIENDS Don't walk in front of me I may not follow Don't walk behind I may not lead Walk beside me And just be my friend. Camus CHRISTMAS QUEENS 1983 This year CMH School of Nursing was represented in area parades by two lovely young ladies. Laura Haynes—Sr. and Martha Strawn — Fr. rode in both the Concord and Kannapolis Christmas Parades. Members of both classes assisted in making plans and preparing posters for the cars. Yow The CAP-N-PIN is more than just a book of pictures and names. It's a moment in history, a part of our lives when we devoted ourselves to a set goal in life that would bring us success. As the CAP-N-PIN went into publication, I realized that goals can be achieved. The achievement comes through self-discipline, team- work, and most of all setting priorities. I would like to express mv sincerest gratitude to the outstanding staff and advisors along with Ann Hyatt for making this book the success it is. A special thanks goes to Mr. Keith Cline for furnishing student pictures and formal shots, and also to Mr. Larry Sides, our re- presentative from Inter-Collegiate Press, for his assistance in getting our yearbook published. As the 1984 CAP-N-PIN brings back memories, may they be full of joy and happiness and may all of you find success in your achieved goal. 32 Love, Penny
