Text from Pages 1 - 80 of the 1974 volume:

TO EVERYTHING THERE IS A SEASON A TIME TO BE BORN, A TIME TO DIE A TIME TC EMBRACE AND A TIME TO REFRAIN FROM EMBRACING A TIME TO SPEAK AND A TIME TO WEEP AND A TIME TO LAUGH A TIME TO MOURN AND A TIME TO DANCE • :• 'St A TIME FOR EVERY m R4  ;s A TIME TO DREAM AND A TIME TO FACE REALITY 10 CAP AND PIN CABARRUS MEMORIAL HOSPITAL SCHOOL OF NURSING AND X-RAY TECHNOLOGY CONCORD, NORTH CAROLINA Excitement, sadness, and a quick thought about those who did not make it. The graduating class of 1973 share their last moments together as a class. They learned to accept responsibility and left with a class that they could be proud of. With these pic- tures we leave the memories of the Class of 73. Marshals were chosen from the junior class in ac- cordance with their scholastic achievement. ... Denise Piercy, Peggy Snider, Sarah Hopkins, Beverly Bradley, Judy Stamper, Gail Freeman, Connie Whitley, Melinda Cox, Valerie Young, Belinda Kepley, Ann Snow, Shirley Parker, Pam Harrington, Sandra Easter, Karen Freeman, Kenya Honeycutt, Laura Pardue, Brenda Rainwater, Jean McIntyre, Nancy Hartsell, Doreen Smith, George Wilkinson, Gisela Ferrell, Carolyn Meroney, Brenda Shaver, Pat Gray, Kathy Nixon, Sharon Miller, Sharon Kindley, Sharon Dick, Marledo Hollopeter, Carol Bershears, Jane Furr, Elaine Byrum, Charlene Kearns, Janice Whitesides, Robin Merritt, Sandra Thaxton, Dale Barbee. CAMPUS Hamburgers, potato chips, hotdogs, and pickles were the center of attention in the auditorium. The rain that came down outside did not affect our hunger, we had our cookout in. We talked, ate, took pictures, and gained ten pounds. One good memory never forgotten. Thanks to student and faculty participation the cookout was a success. 15 The Spring Concert's theme this year was FREEDOM IS ... In this theme they tried to carry through with some of their personal opinions of freedom. Songs re- lating to this theme were, Long Road to Freedom , He Ain't Heavy , We've Only Just Begun , Battle Hymn of the Republic , etc. The Glee Club worked diligently along with Mrs. Roberts in preparation for this concert. Many hours were spent in practice and the Glee Club feels the concert was a success. The basketball team was coached by Cherrie Speagle. Players were: Sherri Shoaf, Patricia Chaffin, Marcia Cook, Lee Lamb, Karen Shoaf, and Neena Shaw. Here the team displays their Good Sportsmanship trophy that they won last year. Words mean so little when there is so much to say. And it seems the harder we try, the farther they get away. How do you express the things you feel within your heart, So much to say, yet, where does one start. We could start by saying we love you, and where does it go from there, The two years of pain, laughter, growing - it doesn't seem fair. Remember how together we used to play and j ° k e. And how you always comforted us, whenever something broke. You were a companion, a teacher, a fixer, a friend, Someone we could count on to be there in the end. You spent your life in labor, giving all there was to give. And we could never forget as long as we shall live. The world could go on forever and we could never trust, Another friend who could give as much as you have given us. And the two years of sulking and unexpect- ed glee, All that's left to say is thanks for putting up with us. With love to you Mrs. Hood, The Class of 1974 MISS MERRY CHRISTMAS As Christmas neared, it was decided that CMH would have a Christinas Queen to repre- sent us in the parades. Gayle Woodie was chosen as Miss Merry Christmas. Donna Low- der was chosen as the repre- sentative from the School of X-Ray. Gayle Woodie 20 There can be no better way to cele- brate a joyful event than with parades that have an abundance of colorful, bright decorations and beautiful girls as Miss Merry Christmas. Add a lot of enjoyable floats with humor and brilliant ornaments to this, then allow crowds to gather along the route to join in the gaiety with expressions of delightfulness in song and cheers. we These things sum up the way celebrate the annual event of Christ- mas, a time of friendship, gift giving, and happiness. You have now reached the end of this book, but this is only a symbol of the many things that are ending. It is the end of another year for all of us. For the seniors it is the end of their formal nursing education. We would look to the future though and realize that it is a be- ginning. It is the beginning of a new year for some of us. For the seniors it is the beginning of their careers as Nurses. For CMH it will be the beginning of the new two-year nursing pro- gram . This year leaves us all with memories, and some of these we have tried to grasp with this publication of the CAP AND PIN. We hope this book will mean as much to you as it does to the staff who worked diligently to prepare it. We would also like to add a word of thanks to Betty Dickerson for the use of the Dedication.
