CAP AND PIN 1973 Cabarrus Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and X-Ray Technology Concord, North Carolina Volume XXV In its own way . . . There is none so blind . . . As he that Will not see . . IN THE EYES OF THE BEHOLDER. 17 DEDICATION ■pi It all began about three years ago . . . both of us confronted with new faces and different surround- ings. Some found it difficult to cope and when we lost half our class she cried with us. She never closed her door and spent endless hours encouraging us. There were frogs, hearts, livers, lungs, pigs, bones, muscles, eyes and of course our cats. She worked diligently with those little freshmen drilling us over and over on diffusion, osmosis, and the scientific achieve- ments of man. As our Junior Class advisor she tolerated, stim- ulated and guided. We will always remember her help with our spaghetti supper and talent show, her motorcycle, her fingernails, her pleasant fragrance filling the lab, and all she has done to make us nurses. Her sincere interest in all students is shown by her confidence in us. For all you have done we are truly grateful and so we the Senior Class of 1973 dedicate the 1973 Cap and Pin to Miss Drucilla Beal. 18 eo O Z -• 2 ft:lhdhTj ffi WITH GREATEST DEVOTION ALLAN DAVIS TUGGLE For thirty years of unselfish devo- tion, tireless effort, wise counsel and service beyond the call of duty; this tribute is offered by those whose gratitude is boundless. The doors are open that first day awaiting a new challenge awaiting new students, who are Where do I go now?'Where is classroom no 6? These are some typical questions on re- gistration for the beginning freshmen stu- dent nurses Many experiences are ahead, which will result in a nurse Orientation week busy fun is completely different life new faces, and an introduction to Time ... to talk on the phone always! Time ... to work. Time . . . Out: from studying, working, going out, and talking on the phone. Time ... to go out, and Enjoy Others leisurely. Time ... to end another day. Time . . . to do necessary studying. 23 BASKETBALL HOT DOG SELL CSU BOWLING BY ACTIVITIES Who is that, that is always at the front of the line for Hot Dogs ? Social gatherings with food always make school seem a little brighter and enjoy- able. The annual staff can do more than take pictures, write; would you believe they can cook, too? The Christian Student Union has got to have a reputation for great hot dogs. Mrs. Stephens doesn't know what she's in for. Surprise parties are always a lot of fun! The students hate to see her go. Miss Adams, director of nursing, chats with new instructor. Watch those calories! Mrs. Mills received a few gifts and expressions of thank-you for all her work at Cabarrus and farewells. Mrs. Clontz goes forward to receive the first copy of the 197 2 Cap and Pin. The School of Nursing and x-ray students gathered in the school auditorium for the viewing of the 1972 Senior gifts to the school. Announcement of annual dedication comes as a surprise to Mrs. Louise Clontz! Judy Ritch, a Senior Student, pictured here, giving one of the Mascots a gift from the Senior Class. i One of the big events of the year--receiving a copy I of the Cap and Pin; more than a book, many treasured memories. CHRISTMAS QUEEN MISS KATHY NIXON CHRISTMAS QUEEN COURT: Miss Dale Barbee, Miss Susan Current, and Miss Debbie Miller. .Gh.. CHRISTMAS QUEEN AND COURT CHRISTMAS PARADE A never-to-be forgotten moment was experienced by a nervous, excited group of forty-nine students, when they were capped by their big sisters (juniors) on this important night. After receiving their caps, the new freshmen student nurses--bedecked in their spanking new uniforms and caps--were charg- ed to make ourselves worthy of the privilege of wearing those caps by striving to be the best that you can be. Class of 1974 receiving their Junior Stripes- Students share in many feelings, among these the joys of accomplishment. Receiving the Junior Stripe means one step closer to your goal. The traditional ripping of the Senior Students uniform on their last clinical day can be embarrasing. The Black Stripe stands for increased knowledge, more confidence, and more work, and responsi- bility. A junior student is pictured here handing over the nursing cap with the horizontal black stripe indicating a long-anticipated reality. This was a feeling of challenge that we as Cabarrus graduates now had to make our world a finer place for every person. We the Class of 1973 give this annual in appreciation of one who is always there - Mrs. Zelma Lisk. APPRECIATION To a person of infinite patience - who spent many hours adjusting the lights and making the atmosphere just right for a spring concert and freshman talent show, showing tapes and without hesitation reshowing tapes for the ones who could not make it the first time, splicing the tapes to cut out giggling mistakes - we the Class of 1973 wish to show our appreciation of Mr. Gene Mills.
