LICENSE? 4 X f-' V , DATE' .0 - '3'iTiME f' 1 3 fl YOU ARE CHARGED WITH VIOLA l , ' . J Q it-ieuoaisiti-te 'Qty N91 yy qmpwmk. tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Double or Nothing Student Activities' latest publicized scandal appears to be the imminent double-charging of students for their ownyearbook, the Opficon. ln past years, extra copies ofthe Opzzeon have always been made available to students on a first-come, first- serve basis. and thousands of dollars of budget overruns have been absorbed by the budgets of successive Opticon staffs. This year however. Post students who desire a rnemento of the previous year will have to pay for their yearbook twice: once through an increased Activity Fee, and once through the going price of the yearbook, presently 37.00. The fact that a S1500 deficit could have been avoided if the Opticon staff had been permitted to cut back on the number of books printed need not be discussed here. Rather, the fact that the Administration per Director of Student Activities, Joseph Benedict, had given its word to pick up the tab through its own budget isiat issue. Although it was not stated how the deficit would be met, no one expected students to be charged for extra yearbooks for which they had already paid. The extra books have already been here for three weeks now, but none of them has been distributed for even soldi. Granted that the books are sold, a price of 57.00, book tfor 360 booksl will more than make up for the S1500 deficit. Where then, will the 31,000 profit go? An answer to this question has not yet been supplied. To sell yearbooks would also set a precedent for future sales. Soon even seniors will be forced to pay for their yearbooks tif they want themj. Administration mem get a free book every year. and yet they don't pay Activity Fee. But who ever heard of a student fair shake? SUMMONS NY. C. W. POST CENTER BROOKVILLE, N. Y. llditocs note As the rest of campus prepared for the fun of the summer, the staff of the Opticon prepared to assemble a yearbook, and let me tell you, it's quite a job. During our time together we learned about those dreaded deadlines that the rest of the Publications wing has been complaining about all year. But the end justifies the means in our business, so we grit our teeth and dive into the task with vigor. That vigor becomes strained after days of no sleep and non-stop work with 328 pages of copy, artwork, photos, and layout staring you in the face. Anyway we did survive, and put together what we feel is a first class book. lt was an honor and a pleasure to be a part of the twenty-fifth anniversary issue. We hope we did CW. Post justice with the result. I'd like to take this opportunity to give special thanks to Aaron Jarit and the whole crew at Carol Studios. Also, thanks to Carrie Hersch and Julie Karp for their untiring work. The folks in Student Activities and the Administration gave us a big helping hand when we needed it most. cthe Family Portrait! lt was quite a year. Heres to the next 25 years .... . KC. f X
