Within the last quarter century, the Korean War has taken place, the en- tire Vietnamese War finally ended, one President has been gunned down in the streets of Dallas, another has left office in disgrace. We have seen men land on the moon, the ecology movement born and computers be- come a way of life. The world has changed more during the life of C.W. Post College than perhaps any other twenty-five year period. To fully appreciate the twenty-fifth year of our College, we review what has happened some one hundred years prior to the opening of the Mer- riweather Campus of Long Island Uni- versity. The history of our school can be directly traced back to the year l854, the year Charles William Post, founder of General Foods, Inc., was born. C.W. Post fabricated a coffee substitute called Postum, and later two cereals known as Grape Nuts and Post Toasties. Millionaire Charles
