Our Senior Year: Japs, Jacques, Jordache, Lackmann, Macho Man, Commuting in Cameros, Dorming in debt, the Dome, the ol' Great Hall and Great Lawn. lt is now the year 2005 and l'm sitting at my son's graduation from CW. Post. Things sure have changed. Back in l990, the traditional Great Lawn became the Great Lot to accommodate space for more vehicles. Commuters don't drive gas powered automobiles any more either. Once Volkswagon came out with the HCl0 ll-lover Croft l0v.l two years ago, the administration has had to allow double and triple decker hovering in parking areas Green, Gold, Hickox and Quad. Remember they promised us a new theatre in the reconstructed Dome? Unfortunately, a local activist group made some noise back in '82 and the plans were changed to comply with a local ordinance requiring a power source within 20 miles ofthe North Shore. The CW. Post Nuclear Power Plant was built within i8 months and just recently averted a meltdown. We were treated to dinner in the Ancient Rat after Commence- ment. The capsules were so neatly labelled and arranged on the platter, that's one thing CWP always had - taste where it counts. The worst part, however, was getting from the tour of the Great Hall to the cafeteria. The security at the opening in the Lucite dome over the Great Hall was so tight that l thought we'd never get to eat dinner. They drew my son's blood and measured his white cell count for identification. The guard assured me that all was done with the strictest precautions and that the blood was used in the best interest. Needless to say, our Blood Drive continued to break records. Our day ended with a trip to Fine Arts via the brand new Air Shuttle Tube. It resembled the mail chutes we used to use years ago, but Post's patented AST transported people with the use of petroleum. With a blast of air, we each were propelled through the system that resembled a yellow, trans- parent Alaskan pipeline. I was really impressed. Even though the technological advances have changed the campus, the people look the same. For example, here's a picture of my son. Photographs of his classmates follow. They can almost look familiar, you know? ...... AL
