2 Z-'Ja- 1 Almost Anything Goes had clubs joining in the spirit of competition. A Martial Arts show was one of various special events. 'lift The i979-80 academic year was a very important one at C.W. Post. Be- sides marking the 25th year of this campus' existence it also marked the beginning of a new and improved Stu- dent Activities program. Thanks to a number of dedicated students and administrators this will be a year long remembered for the advancements made in the area of Student Activities. Even before the school year opened, people could tell that some- thing good was about to happen. The Orientation program, one of the best coordinated to date, was a huge suc- cess. One event at Orientation was a Clubs 8. Activities Fair where incom- ing Freshmen could find out what types of extra-curricular activities were offered. Representatives from all of the major activities were on hand including Publications, Student Gov- ernment, and Organizations. This was the first time, since this type of fair has been held, that it appeared to be an asset to both the students attending Orientation and the Orientation program in general. Things seemed to be off to a good start. The first weekend of the semes- ter saw another first. After years of talk, Assistant Director of Student Activities, Joanne Sullivan successful- ly realized our first leadership de- velopment conference. Months of preparation and work paid off as some forty of this campus' more in- volved student set out for the Pocono Environmental Education Center KPEEC for shorti. The weekend in- volved a number of semi-structured group participation exercises de- signed to improve leadership capabili- ties and communications skills. There was also time for some partying, re- laxation, and social interaction. Thus the weekend was doubly important. lt helped to better our student leaders while fostering a spirit of cooperation that has been so desperately needed on this campus. The interaction be- tween the clubs and activities orga- nizations this year has been phe- nomenal. The publications wing, in Phase ll of the Commons, had to be one of the most pleasant areas of the campus in which to work. Everyone was like one big family. More goods and services were exchanged than one could im- agine. Typewriters, paper, pictures, copy, bodies - nothing was sacred.
