hockey To compete in the Metropolitan Collegiate Hockey Conference is a major goal of the C.W. Post Hockey Club. With the Islanders sparking pub- lic interest in the sport, our hockey players await a decision to receive money for the team from the College. Their second season's record im- proves on their first's, moving up three spots and placing third in the league despite the gross lack of funds. Play- ers have had to pay Sl OO to Sl 25 per season to purchase ice time and to cover expenses. Their dedication is shown by the individual commitment of money and time in order to keep the sport in competition. his ..

Post Track and Field Team has brought possibly more glory to our school this season than any other sport here on campus. The ones to watch were triple- jumper Frank Alston and l5OO meter runner Don DiDonoto. Alston broke all Pioneer records in the triple-jump practically re-writing the record books with every new jump. His longest jump came after the formal season ended at the Penn Relays, where he jumped a phenomenal 53 feet 2.V2 inches. Frank has been ranked as one of the six best triple-jumpers in the country all season. He captured the ICAAAA National Championship with a jump of 52 feet l V4 inches. Don DiDonoto had a fine season for the green and gold, performing well in his l5OO meter event, as well as the distance medley relay. The other members of the Pioneer squad should not be forgotten, as their efforts contributed to the win- ning tradition of Post Track and Field. 151

The Pioneers finished their l98O campaign with a 26-8 record. The victory total was the most ever accumulated by a Post baseball team in our school's history. On the basis of this outstanding re- cord, the green and gold gained a berth in the NCAA Division ll Play- offs. ln the playoffs, the Pioneers beat next-door neighbors New York Tech, but lost to the University of New Haven in the finals. During the regular season, as well as in the post-season competition, Post's stand-outs continued to fare well on the diamond. Leading the way in hitting for our team was Neil Fal- cone, Joe Tarangelo, and Mark Cor- ky Baum. Heading the R.B.l. list was slugger Jamie Braverman, who also led the team in homeruns. On the mound, Vining's top choices were .lohn Kearns and Rick Cavellero.
