While new people were found to re- place those coaches who left, the Athle- tic Director's chair has been temporarily filled by a former Post Athletic-Director, Bill Ashley. Ashley is serving as interim A.D. until a permanent director is found. At the date of this publication, we are still without a permanent Athletic Direc- tor, but we have many talented athletes who are still striving for their goals de- spite the obstacles. The road to completion of the I979-l 980 sports season was a rocky one, filled with many obstacles here at Post. The athletic department, plagued by drastic budget cuts, was hampered by seven resignations over a period of five months. First to leave was wrestling coach Bob Stock, in early November. Follow- ing a twelve year reign as head foot- ball coach, Dom Anile resigned at the end ofthe Pioneer football season lat- er in the month. Soccer's Alex Bem- stein was next to leave. Probably the most significant res- ignation came from Athletic Director Bob Greene. Perhaps Greene's budget cuts lunder the direction of Dennis Payette-Vice President of Student Aftairsl sparked the ever-growing list of departures from the department. Rounding out the list of resigning coaches was Baseball's Jim Amen, and Tennis' Dick and Madeline Zaus- ner, the latter two leaving in mid-April, at the opening of the tennis season.
