B- B- B- Bewilderment! That was the first impression received by the freshmen during the summer Orien- tation period. Arriving in groups of 60 a day, they left with the image of a small, personal liberal arts college community, an efficient reg- istration, a tranquil book- store, and free soda in the Pioneer Room. Then, they ar- rived for fall orientation, they received an even greater shock Cas did the Green Band Ieadersl. An orientation that had been meticulously pre- pared for 1100 students was unexpectedly flooded by a screaming throng of over 1400. After the initial turmoil had subsided, the Green and Black Band leaders led their groups through three days of activities, which included a bonfire, a dance, speeches, and an auspicious concert.
