PETER K. EWALD Provost, C. W. Post C The chief administrative officer of C. W. Post College is the Provost. This posi- tion must be filled by a man of ability, understanding, and vision. This man is Dr. Peter K. Ewald. A native of New York City, Provost Ewald pursued his higher education at New York University, where he received his B.A., M.A. and Ph. D. degrees. His impressive ability in the fields of business and political science led to his appointment in T955 as Assistant Professor of Corporate Finance at New York University. Later, in 1960, after demonstrating a high degree of dedication to education and research, Dr. Ewald won an appointment as Dean of the College of Business Administration at St. John's University. In 1963, Dr. Ewald came to C. W. Post College to take the position of Dean of the Evening Division and Director of the Division of Business Administration. One year later, Dr. Ewald became the Provost of C. W. Post College. Provost Ewald has shown himself to be a warm and understanding admin- istrator. He has emphasized close relationships among students, faculty, and the administration. His firm and imaginative guidance has been important in giving the C. W. Post College community a strong atmosphere of maturity, understanding, and cooperation. Today's complex college community needs a leader who can effectively guide communications. This is one of the many areas in which Provost Peter K. Ewald has achieved outstanding success. His interest in the students and in the development of the college can be seen in the admiration and respect which he enioys among faculty and students. ollege

R. Gordon Hoxie, Chancellor of Long- Island University and President of C. W. Post College, has been an inspira- tion and leader in the growth of the College since its inception. He is a symbol of dedication and perseverance that has guided a small and weak college and university towards greatness in the educational world. After receiving his B.A. from Iowa State Teachers College, Chancellor Hoxie received his M.A. from the University of Wisconsin and his Ph.D. from Columbia University. After teaching and administrative exper- ience at the University of Denver and Columbia University, the Chancellor was selected in 1955 to direct the planning for the establishment of a college in Brook- ville, New York. C. W. Post College was born after many months of devoted effort. In 1955 Dr. Hoxie became the first Dean of C. W. Post College. He became the provost of the College in 1960, and the Vice President of Long Island University in 1962. Shortly thereafter, the Board of Trustees of Long Island University elected Dr. Hoxie President of C. W. Post College. In 1964 the President received the additional title of Chancellor of Long Island University. Fifteen years ago the infant college in Brookville faced the need for a leader who could look to the future and provide for the sound growth of C. W. Post College. Today Chancellor R. Gordon Hoxie continues with charac- teristic vigor and vision to work for an even greater future for C. W. Post College and Long Island University. R. GORDON HOXIE Chancellor, Long Island University President, C. W. Post College
