CLASS HISTORY Now that one thinks back it is only proper that Posts complacency be shaken by the 800 members of the class of 1968 We were the largest class Post had ever seen We arrived on a Sunday in mid September of 1964 and as our orientation began we were exposed to the immortal words On this auspicious occasion We looked ahead with a reserved enthusiasm and wondered if we would ever attain the maturity and confidence of our Greenband leaders They kept us busy daily with tours and lectures, and nightly with various forms of entertainment We displayed a spirit which has never been dupli- cated by those who went before us or those who followed We needed make ourselves known Ahh W loved the school school? You mean the country club' Yes we fell by the wayside The Old Wayside Who will ever forget Post Day at the Fair? And Fat Larry getting bounced for losing S10 000 in card games or being campused for a week The old Knob and the 4 CCCCs were thoroughly investigated and we soon learned that they werent conducive to studying The Boppers weather predictions never came true an who ever heard of pledging for a day, and pretty pastel dresses? Sunny Newton was not at the Con- cord either, but where it was it hap- pening-Whatever happened to Ger- tie and Alvin? And what was an evening s entertainment without Joe Driveshaft and Amelia Erhardt 'J Yes there was Post Hall the one girl s dorm where we could sit and in an evening see all our friends We had the thrall of our first Homecom ing with float building the big foot ball game and the reality of our marching band of seven members was a real shocker followed by P051 Time at the Cloud Casino Yes we were getting to know what our col lege was all about and we loved it' If it couldnt be found rn College Hall Roth or Hoxie it didnt exist The Daily Storm was in full swing, and salt shakers were flying, along with elephant iokes and kites Please Mr. Postman Where is Lloyd any- way? And what ever happened to Larry the Leech? Those 9 o'clock cur- fews were hampering to one's style And DSP's stayed up all night playing cards, and slept all day until their three o'clock classes began. Extended lunches were at the C's in the after- noon and the Mug hadn't been opened yet. Afternoon classes were a bore anyway. Who's sleeping in my bed? . . . Cleo? We became a closely knit group. Tucci was elected Presi- dent...He...well...You name it . . . He did it . . . Our class advisory board was set up and was an intricate no coaxing to make us believe that, We're the class of '68, we're that class that's really great. By November, we had banded to- gether as a unit and began working as a class. We were determined to part of our success here at school. We achieved a closeness that a class, so large, usually finds hard. We were exposed to our first classes . . . and were shocked when Miss Jagger, before even introducing herself, laid down on a desk to

And there will always be the memory of Mr. Streeter trotting down Northern Boulevard, umbrella in hand . . . Dr. Smether- man, then Mr. Smetherman, our ad- visor we will never forget you . . . and Professor Gurland who helped even us math haters plow through sets and logic, only to discover it wasn't so bad after all. Remember having to drag ourselves down en- mass to the gym to sign the little green attendance card for the fresh- man Iecture series. On winter week- ends we heard the Del Satins and the Duprees in concert, and danced in the gym which was decorated like a ski lodge. Our Beer Blast was held at the Chop House and they were drying the place out for months after. Oh, yes, traying was a tradition, and so were minus averages, it seemed. But there was always next semester. And . . . Most any college is fine with me, as long as you spell it P-O-S-T. Our first Spring Weekend became a reality.
